Left to right: Paul Vallas, CEO of the Philadelphia School District, Sharon Seeney, Principal, Martha Washington School, and the Honorable John Street, Mayor of Philadelphia.

The School of Education, directed by Dr. Fredricka Reisman, hosted The Drexel Symposium on School Community Engagement: A Creative Approach to School Violence Reduction on November 18-20. The symposium was geared toward professionals from all fields and featured workshops such as “Service Learning as a Creative Learning Strategy,” “Bullying Prevention: A School-wide Initiative” and “Creative Problem Solving Strategies for Educational Leaders.” The conference also marked the dedication of the Drexel/Torrance Center for Creative Studies and the Creative Prevention of School Violence. The Center provides a research venue for investigating applications of creativity and provides professional development opportunities and technical support for school staff and faculty members and parents.
