Happy Holidays!
The University recently honored our long-term faculty and staff members for their years of loyal service to Drexel at the annual recognition awards ceremony. Among those recognized were 35-year employees Dr. Charles Winkleman, Mary Kilrain, Dr. Jalal Mobini, Dr. Roy Kim, Dr. Michael Sullivan, Dr. Richard Rosen, Jean Burress, Dr. Miriam Kotzin, Dr. Herman Gollwitzer and Margery Fritsche. Through their continuous service our honorees have enriched the learning experience we provide to our students and have helped to make Drexel a better place for all of us.
The commitment demonstrated by our long-term employees is epitomized by the distinguished Drexel career of President Emeritus Harold M. Myers ’38, Hon. ’83, who died on October 15. Not only was Dr. Myers a Drexel graduate, but also a 50-year University staff member.
Dr. Myers worked his way up through the University’s ranks, from instructor in cooperative education and director of graduate placement (1938-46) to trustee (1984-2004) and interim president (1987-88), when he led Drexel through a difficult time in its history.
Throughout his tenure, Dr. Myers served his alma mater with loyalty and distinction. His dedication sets a wonderful example for us. Long-term support such as Dr. Myers’ has helped Drexel become one of America’s premier universities.
On behalf of our students, alumni and trustees, I thank all of our faculty and staff members for their hard work in 2004 in helping the University reach its goals. My wife Eliana and I look forward to seeing our faculty and staff at our annual holiday celebration on December 12.
On behalf of my family, I extend season’s greetings and best wishes for the new year to the entire Drexel community.
