The New Light in Sacramento's Sky
You can see it driving north on I-5, right before the J Street exit — the beautiful gold Drexel sign that complements the golden Tower Bridge that is just feet to its west. Blue and Gold are Drexel University's colors, and Sacramento's blue sky is the perfect backdrop for our new sign — announcing that Drexel is here to stay.

Sacramento Dragons Answer the Call
Civic engagement is a central tenet of Drexel University. On June 7, 14 Drexel graduate students, the dean and his wife, and several Drexel staff members went to the KVIE television studio to help raise money for public television. It was a great event — by the end of the evening, Team Drexel had logged over 100 total hours of service. This event marks the first of many public service projects.

Last Chance to Register for Free GMAT Prep Course on July 18 and 19
On July 18 and 19, Drexel's LeBow College of Business will offer an intensive two-day prep course taught by nationally acclaimed educator Frank Allegra. Only those who have applied by July 13 for admission to the LEAD MBA program starting in September will be eligible for the program. The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is required of each applicant because Drexel's LEAD MBA is so highly accredited and ranked. The prep session is ideal for those who have been out of school or have not taken standardized exams in a while. This intensive course will cover:
* Arithmetic and algebra problems
* Word problems and math shortcuts
* Geometry problems and graphs/charts questions
* Data sufficiency problems
* Sentence correction questions
* Reading comprehension/critical reasoning questions
* Test-taking skills and strategies
* Hints and shortcuts on how to answer the questions
Because the number of seats in this course is limited, admission will be selective. To learn more about this event or to seek admission, please visit the LeBow College of Business Sacramento GMAT Prep Session page. Information about the LEAD MBA is provided at every Information Session offered by the Center for Graduate Studies.

Sacramento MBAs Excel in First Drexel Bicoastal Business Ethics Competition
On Saturday, June 20, Sacramento LEAD MBA program students participated in the inaugural LeBow Marketing Ethics Case Competition. The competition encourages a greater understanding of ethical decision making
in business while capitalizing on our growing student network on both
coasts. Twenty-four teams began the day and four teams made it to Saturday's
final round. Sacramento's LEAD MBA program was represented by students Hai Nguyen (McClatchy Company), Ken Harms (Turner Construction), Sarah
Standiford (Mariani Packing Company), Kyle Glankler (Roebbelen Contracting), and Ryan Baker (Moss Adams). Though the Sacramento MBAs performed admirably,
the panel of academics and business leaders awarded the inaugural
competition to the MBA Anywhere team. One of the panelists noted that our Sacramento LEAD teams made significant strides in an
extremely short period of time and will no doubt enhance Drexel's case
competition success worldwide.

Drexel Partners with SARTA to Offer Leadership Series
The Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance (SARTA) is the place where the region's burgeoning technology industry leaders come to learn about the newest developments. This year, we're offering the SARTA Leadership Series and Drexel is the presenting sponsor. With Drexel's focus on teaching leadership skills as part of its academic programs, and our eye on the impending transfer of authority from the boomers to the next generation, the partnership with SARTA is a no-brainer. The most recent program, on governance, was packed, filling our large classroom at One Capitol Mall. The next one will be hosted by Delegata, a consulting and system's integration firm. If you are interested in technology or leadership, you should consider joining us for this program.

"CBS Evening News with Katie Couric" Spotlights Drexel's Dr. Mariana Chilton and "Witnesses to Hunger"
Dr. Mariana Chilton, assistant professor of health management and policy at the Drexel University School of Public Health and an expert on children and food insecurity (hunger) in America, recently appeared on CBS Evening News with Katie Couric for a story about her research project, "Witnesses to Hunger." Watch the video here.
The story, which aired on June 5, featured a report on how the recession is impacting children across the nation. Through her work, Dr. Chilton has successfully brought the issue of hunger to the American public in a very short period of time. Her research exemplifies the type of leadership approach that the School of Public Health takes in making a difference in the health and lives of others. Learn more about her research and see the powerful images from the Witnesses project, by visiting the Witnesses to Hunger website.
To learn about the executive-format Master's in Public Health being offered at Drexel's Graduate Center starting on August 28, visit our website or attend an Information Session at the Center.

Drexel Crew Makes the Sacramento TV News
Only two dozen teams from around the country were invited to compete in the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championships recently held on Lake Natoma, and Drexel was proud to be there. And we were even happier when we were highlighted on the local CBS evening news. We hope this is just the first of many appearances by Drexel sports teams in the Sacramento region.

On Saturday June 13, more than 2,000 students became Drexel's newest alumni.
