News Flash: Engineering Management Program Directors to Visit Sacramento Next Week
 Professors
Morton Rabinowitz and Joseph Martin will be coming to Drexel's
Sacramento Campus next week, and will be available to speak or meet
with potential students from 4:00–6:00 pm on Tuesday, July 14
or Thursday, July 16. They will also be hosting an informal group session
on Thursday at 6:00 pm at the Graduate Center. This is a unique opportunity
to learn about a unique program: one by which you can obtain specialized
knowledge about Infrastructure Engineering Management or Power Engineering
Management and receive an academic certificate within one year, then
have three years to go on to complete your master's degree — and
have it all qualify for Drexel's scholarships as well as federal
financial aid programs. There is nothing better for the professional
in many fields who is involved in large public works or power-related
development projects. Reserve your place online or email sacramento@drexel.edu for
details.

Sacramento Graduate Center Called "Classroom of the Future" by National Magazine
College
Planning & Management is a monthly magazine distributed to 30,000 college administrators across the U.S. In its June 2009 edition, the magazine features the Graduate Center in an article titled "Cutting-Edge Technology Revolutionizes Learning." Featuring our dean and our chief technology officer, it documents how our Graduate Center has become the region's most high-tech conference space, offering students a unique chance not only to benefit from the $1 million in technology we have here, but to master it as well. In a second article about Drexel, the magazine also applauds the University's sustainability initiatives.

Drexel Ties a Yellow Ribbon Around One Capital Mall
On August 1, the Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 becomes effective. Called the "Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008," it gives those who have served in our armed forces for 36 months or more (and those honorably discharged because of a service-related injury) since September 11, 2001, significant tuition assistance for undergraduate and graduate programs, plus a book allowance and monthly living stipend. Drexel has signed up to be one of a few universities in the nation to ensure that any and all qualifying veterans who are admitted to Drexel will not have to pay a penny in tuition. If you are a veteran who has served since 9/11, visit our Yellow Ribbon Program page.

News from the iSchool
In
a peer assessment ranking conducted last year by U.S.News & World
Report, Drexel's College of Information Science and Technology,
the iSchool, was rated fifth in the nation in Information Systems,
sixth in Digital Librarianship, and 11th overall for Library and Information
Studies. This year, the news was even better — in the new U.S.
News rankings, only three MS(LIS) programs in California were ranked:
UCLA, San Jose State, and Drexel. Of them, Drexel took top honors, placing
7th in the country! No wonder we've received such an enthusiastic welcome
from state and local professional associations of librarians.
The iSchool will have representatives at the next Graduate Center Information
Session on July 21, so register for it now.
