Dragon Drive Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Dragon Drive?
Dragon Drive is the name of Drexel's annual workplace giving campaign. Through it, Drexel employees can conveniently make tax deductible contributions to support the AIDS Fund, Bread & Roses Community Fund, Delaware Valley Legacy Fund, Environmental Fund for Pennsylvania, United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania and Women's Way.
What's New for 2009?
The Dragon Drive has added a new organization in 2009 to expand your philanthropic choices: the Delaware Valley Legacy Fund. The mission of the DVLF is to support the community needs of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex (LGBTI) and straight-allied communities. Another change this year is that two additional Days of Caring have been added to make giving more convenient for those who wish to give by cash or check. In addition, the online Dragon Drive payroll deduction pledge form has been revamped to make it easier to use and to improve record-keeping.
What if I want to support a specific United Way agency?
All you need to do is enter that agency's code or name on your pledge form. For a list of agencies, see the United Way page on the Dragon Drive web site or visit www.uwsepa.org/Agencies.asp . In addition, the revised online pledge form also offers a link to the agencies list.
How can I make my contribution to the Dragon Drive?
The easiest way to give generously is to sign up for a payroll deduction by using the online Dragon Drive pledge form. To make your payroll deduction pledge click here. Complete the form online, submit the data, and then print out a copy for your original signature. Give the signed form to your department captain or send it to the Payroll Department for handling. (NOTE: Payroll won't process your payroll deduction request without an original signature.)
If I sign up for a payroll pledge, when will it take effect?
Payroll deductions begin in the new calendar year. So, if you sign up for a payroll pledge during the Dragon Drive in October 2009, your deductions will start in January 2010, unless otherwise specified.
But what if I prefer to give by cash or check?
The Dragon Drive is pleased to offer four opportunities to make your gift directly to the charity of your choice on Friday, October 2nd, Tuesday, October 20th, Thursday, October 22nd, and Thursday, October 29th. Charity representatives will be on hand to share information and receive your support by cash or check. Please view the Dragon Drive Schedule here for exact times and locations.
How much should I give?
Giving is a personal matter and the amount is up to you. There is, however, a minimum for using payroll deduction. You must give at least $5 per pay period. The number of pay periods is also up to you – you can give throughout the year or just one time. There are no guidelines for giving by cash or check at the Days of Caring.
