Dragon Drive FAQs
What is the Dragon Drive?
Dragon Drive is the name of Drexel’s
annual workplace giving campaign. In the
past, Drexel employees contributed solely
to the United Way of Southeastern
Pennsylvania. Now, Drexel employees are
also able to assign their giving directly to
AIDS Fund, Bread & Roses Community
Fund, Environmental Fund for
Pennsylvania or Womens Way.
Can I still support United Way?
Absolutely. And that long list of specific
agencies under United Way will continue
to be available for your support. Dragon
Drive simply makes more options available
for your consideration. For a list of
agencies under United Way, please refer to
the Guide to Caring in this booklet.
Why does Drexel conduct this type of
annual workplace giving campaign?
This type of campaign was created in
response to requests from employees to
have more alternatives for giving, reflecting
the diverse interests and values of people
at Drexel. The organizations that were
included are active and well known in
Philadelphia. They are re-grantors like
United Way and have been well accepted
for employee giving at peer institutions.
How can I make my contribution to the
Dragon Drive?
You will receive a contribution form to
complete and return. This will enable you
to select those organizations you want to
support. You can make your tax-deductible
gift(s) by payroll deduction, check or cash.
If you choose payroll deduction, Drexel
will automatically send the amounts you
indicate to the various organizations (e.g.,
$20 per month—$5 to United Way, $5 to
AIDS Fund, $5 to Environmental Fund,
$5 to Womens Way). Due to the success of
Express Payroll Deduction last year, we
have provided two choices for across-the-board
contributions. Your selection of the
$5 Express Payroll Deduction sends $5 per
month ($2.50 per biweekly pay) and provides
$12 annually to each of the funds, for
a total contribution of $60. The second
option, the $10 Express Payroll Deduction,
sends $10 per month ($5 per bi-weekly
pay) and provided $24 annually to each of
the funds, for a total contribution of $120.
If you wish to give by check, you must
make a separate check payable to each fund
you want to support. If you are donating to
an agency under United Way, you must
write your check to United Way. Do NOT write a check to an individual United Way
agency, nor to Dragon Drive or Drexel.
