Baiada Center to Host Entrepreneurial Skills Workshop Today

The Laurence A. Baiada Center for Entrepreneurship in Technology will host an entrepreneurial skills workshop, "Creativity & Innovative Thinking," today, December 6, 2007, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on the ground floor of the Baiada Center (3225 Arch Street). Dave Piltz, managing partner of The Learning Key®, will lead the workshop.

This workshop is designed for those who believe that success is directly linked to innovation and would like to develop the ability to tap into their creativity to instantly turn company goals into profits. Through discussions and activities, participants will learn how to be creative "in the moment" and walk away with at least one new business idea for increased success.

Drexel Wins CAA Blood Challenge Second Year in a Row

Drexel University was named the winner of the CAA Blood Challenge for the second year in a row following another remarkable effort. Drexel shattered the Blood Challenge record set in 2006 with 942 actual donors, which resulted in a Challenge-record 875 productive units of blood collected.

The University of Delaware, which won the first four CAA Blood Challenges (2002-05), finished second with 678 donors. Virginia Commonwealth University placed third in the Challenge with 325 donors, which was its highest finish ever.

Jazz Orchestra and Jazztet to Perform Tonight

Susquehanna International Group Technology Info Session Today

The Steinbright Career Development Center will present an information session with the Susquehanna International Group, LLP, today, December 6, 2007, from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. in Rooms 2019 and 2020, MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets).

Susquehanna International Group, LLP (SIG) is a sophisticated and influential trading firm, active on most of the world’s major securities and derivatives exchanges. CEO Leadership Workshop Tonight

The Office of Campus Activities is offering a free workshop, "Make a Name for Yourself: Reading Your Work Environment," featuring Laura Mattiford, commuter assistant, and Jessica Grace, assistant director for Commuter and Off-Campus Student Programs and Services, today, December 6, 2007, at 6 p.m. in room 226 in the Creese Student Center (32nd and Chestnut Streets).

Getting ahead in the workplace can be tough, especially when there are politics involved. This presentation will offer tips on navigating the work environment as well as implementing the concept of servant-leadership while still achieving intended growth within the workplace.

Study Abroad Fellowships Available

The Drexel Study Abroad and Fellowships offices announce that the Whitaker International Fellows and Scholars Program competition is now open. United States-based biomedical engineers (or bioengineers), from graduating seniors to recent Ph.D. recipients, are eligible to apply for this opportunity.

The Whitaker Program funds emerging biomedical engineers to undertake any activity relevant to their careers, meaningful to the field of biomedical engineering (or bioengineering), and toward the goal of increasing international collaboration.

Whitaker Fellows range from graduating seniors to doctoral students. They may receive one academic year of funding for their activities. Whitaker Scholars are recent Ph.D. recipients who can receive funding for as little as one semester or as long as two years.

Teach for America

Application deadlines for Teach for America are January 4 and February 15, 2008.

Teach for America is open to all academic majors, and those accepted into the program receive full salary and benefits. Last year 18,000 people applied to Teach for America to join the movement to fight educational inequality.

University Crossings Stair Run

Beta Beta Beta and the Office of Residential Living will sponsor a stair run Saturday, December 8, 2007, from 9 a.m. to noon in University Crossings (101 N. 32nd Street).

Registration is $3 per person, $5 if two people sign up together. Sign-up in the lobby of University Crossings.

All the proceeds generated from the event will purchase mosquito netting to be placed over beds for an African village. Each net costs $10, and can potentially save three people, as children in the villages typically share beds. More information about this initiative is available at http://malarianomore.org.
