Main Quad Fountain on Display Today and Tomorrow
As landscaping of the quad nears completion, the newly installed fountain will be tested today and tomorrow, November 30-December 1, 2006, before it is shut down for the winter. Members of the University community are invited to see it in action from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. in the Main Quad.
The fountain consists of 112 water jets capable of shooting water to a height of seven feet. Each of the jets has eight lights that illuminate and color the water as part of four water shows lasting five minutes each. All of the water is recirculated as part of its environmentally friendly design.

Remembering AIDS - 25 Years Later
As we remember the personal and global impact of HIV and AIDS, a quiet space will be available to all students, faculty and staff for reflection, prayer and meditation, today, November 30, 2006 from 4-9 p.m. and Friday, December 1, 2006 from 9 a.m.-noon in the Living Arts Longue (33rd and Chestnut Streets). Stop by when you want and stay for as long as you are able. Stories, statistics, and other reflections may be shared. You can also add your contribution to the Drexel World AIDS Day banner. There will also be an HIV/AIDS resource and information fair in Mandell Theater Lobby with information on HIV/AIDS prevention and how you can get involved locally. The Office of University Student Life on the Center City Hahnemann Campus will recognize World AIDS Day on Thursday, November 30 and Friday, December 1, 2006 with an information display and a candlelight vigil to remember and honor those who have been affected by HIV and AIDS. This will take place in Klahr Lobby of the New College Building (245 N. 15th Street).

MAD Dragon Records to Host Matt Duke Listening Party Today
Mad Dragon Records will hold a listening party for Matt Duke's new CD Winter Child today, November 30, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. at The Second Floor in Ross Commons (34th Street and Powelton Avenue).
Winter Child, Duke's first LP release, has been featured in All Music Guide, MTV News and Philadelphia Weekly. Duke will perform live and discuss his approach to songwriting and performing.

Biomed to Hold Seminar on Retrieval Analysis
The School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems will hold the seminar "Retrieval Analysis: Studying Device Failure to Enable Future Success" on Friday, December 1, 2006 at 4 p.m. in Matheson Hall room 109 (32nd and Market Streets).
Dr. Steven M. Kurtz, principal engineer and Philadelphia office director for Exponent, Inc., a scientific and engineering consulting firm, is the guest speaker. Dr. Kurtz is also a research professor and director of Biomed's Implant Research Center.

Physical Therapy Information Session for Drexel Undergrads
How will you use your undergraduate degree? What is the next big step for you after college? How can you use your degree to start a fun and rewarding career?
One possibility is to become a physical therapist and work with athletes. To learn how you can translate your undergraduate science degree into a career in physical therapy, join Drexel's doctor of physical therapy program for a special information session on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at the Daskalakis Athletic Center (32nd and Market Streets).
The session will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the DAC Hospitality Suite overlooking the basketball court. Hoagies, chips, soda and desserts will be served.
Attendees will meet the program director and faculty of the physical therapy program, including Dr. Kevin Gard, team therapist for Drexel's athletic programs. They will receive a packet of information about the doctor of physical therapy program.

Baiada Center Announces First Business Plan Competition Workshop
The Laurence A. Baiada Center for Entrepreneurship in Technology will host the first 2006-07 Business Plan Development Workshop on Saturday, December 2, 2006 in the Baiada Center (3225 Arch Street, ground floor). The workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast, followed by the presentation starting at 10 a.m.

All Drexel students are invited to participate in the workshops and business plan competition. Students from all fields of study are encouraged to form interdisciplinary teams to take an idea from concept to full business plan. Competition winners will be given the opportunity to develop their business plan into a new venture in the Baiada Center's business incubator. More than $65,000 in cash and in-kind services will be awarded.

Drexel Economics Society to Hold Discussion on Career Options in Economics
The Drexel Economics Society will host a discussion on career opportunities available to individuals with undergraduate degrees or concentrations in economics on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 from 6:30-8 p.m. in Matheson Hall room 109 (32nd and Market Streets).
The discussion will be led by Stephen Mullin, senior vice president and principal of Econsult Corporation. His consulting practice concentrates on state and public finance and policy analysis, economic and real estate development, tourism, convention center and sports facilities impacts and financing, project and program evaluation, business strategies utilizing government programs, public-private partnerships, and economic impact and feasibility analyses. Mullin will teach ECON 202 at Drexel during the winter term.

Certified Fight Director to Present Stage Combat Session at Mandell Theater
Commonwealth Classic Theatre Company and Drexel's Mandell Professionals in Residence Project will present "An Afternoon of Stage Combat" with certified instructor and fight director Ian Rose (above) on Sunday, December 3, 2006 from 1-4 p.m. in Mandell Theater (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
Rose has been staging fights in and around New York and Philadelphia for more than 20 years. His fights have appeared on the stages of Riverside Shakespeare and Interborough Repertory Theatre in New York, The Whole Theatre in New Jersey, MTM Studios in Rome, the Bridewell Theatre in London, The Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival, the Philadelphia Theatre Company and Novel Stages in Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival.
Rose's work has been seen in several smaller films and television commercials. He is a certified instructor and fight director with the Society of American Fight Directors and with Fight Directors Canada. Rose has taught at five Canadian Nationals and is one of the creators of the workshop at Ryerson University in Toronto.

Presenter Sarita Lyons will discuss ways to overcome the fear of public speaking and offer tips for making the public speaking process easier.

Swimmer Mert Karsiyakalilar to Compete in U.S. Open
Drexel men's swimmer Mert Karsiyakalilar (above) will compete in the U.S. Open swim meet on Friday, December 1, 2006. Karsiyakalilar, a freshman, qualified for the 100 butterfly at the Maryland Invitational this month after posting a time of 50.16 in the 100-yard event.
The U.S Open is annually one of the top mid-season swim meets. The event will be held at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. Twenty-one U.S. Olympians will compete in the meet, including Ian Crocker, who will participate against Karsiyakalilar.

In Memoriam: Dr. Saroj Parasuraman
Dr. Saroj Parasuraman, LeBow College of Business Professor Emeritus of Management, recently died after a long illness. She was 70 years old and resided in the Washington, D.C. area with her brother and his family.
Dr. Parasuraman, who was a recipient of the University's Research Achievement Award in 1996, was renowned for her work in organizational behavior and research on job stress and work-life balance. In 2002, she received the Sage Distinguished Scholarship Award from the Gender and Diversity in Organizations Division of the Academy of Management. Dr. Parasuraman's research findings appeared in journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Group and Organization Studies, International Journal of Man-Machine Studies, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Management, Research in Nursing and Health, Work and Occupations, Journal of Management Systems, and Journal of Organizational Behavior.
Dr. Parasuraman joined the LeBow College faculty in 1983 and retired in 2001. During her years at Drexel, she mentored doctoral students and consulted for a wide range of government agencies, industrial firms, financial institutions and educational institutions.
A memorial service for Dr. Parasuraman will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at at 3 p.m. at the Self-Revelation Church and Mahatma Gandhi Center (4748 Western Avenue, Bethesda, Md.). Those who would like to have words read at the service can email Dr. Parasuraman’s brother Raja Parasuraman at rparasur@gmu.edu.
