CEO to Hold Conflict Resolution Workshop


The Creating Excellent Organizations (CEO) program will hold the workshop "Win-Win Situations: Conflict Resolution" on Monday, November 22, 2004 from 6-7:30 p.m. in MacAlister Hall room 2020 (33rd and Chestnut Streets).

Presenters Jose Luis Riera, associate director of residential living, and Mackenzie Streit, assistant director of residential living for judicial affairs, will review what conflict is and how we confront it. The session, which is designed for student organizational leaders and members, will demonstrate an effective means of talking about conflict and reaching positive outcomes for the parties involved.

Pearlstein Gallery to Exhibit Award-Winning Photography of Sarah Stolfa


The Leonard Pearlstein Gallery (33rd and Market Streets) will hold the exhibition "The Regulars: The Photography of Sarah Stolfa" from November 22, 2004 through December 10, 2004.

Sarah Stolfa, a photography major in the College of Media Arts & Design, was the grand prize winner in The New York Times Magazine's "Capture the Times" college photography contest. Her work (above), a color photo essay featuring the patrons of McGlinchey's, one of Philadelphia's oldest taverns, was published in the June 13, 2004 issue of the magazine.

Bone Marrow Drive


The Drexel University College of Medicine's South Asian Medical Student Association and the South Asian Association of Recruiters will hold a bone marrow drive on Saturday, November 20, 2004 from 6-9:30 p.m. in the Hahnemann University Hospital Geary Lobby (15th and Vine Streets).

The bone marrow drive will offer an opportunity to give back to the community by registering to be a bone marrow donor. Donors must be between the ages of 18-60 and in relatively good health.

Business Students Win International Internet-Based Contest


Four Drexel students enrolled in LeBow College of Business won first place in the annual fall Capstone and Foundation International Challenge - a worldwide, Internet-based contest for business students.

The challenge, supported by Management Solutions Inc., featured a computer-based information technology business that simulated the pace and pressures of moving an enterprise from start-up to success. More than 500 colleges and universities competed head-to-head in the virtual competition as they integrated strategic operational concepts for a business cycle of eight years.

The Drexel team, Eric J. Zerphy, Ed O'Donnell, Kevin Shmihluk, and Kurt Kaminsky, all students of Professor Robert Laessig, netted $136 million in profits to take the top spot in the Foundation Challenge. Other finalists included teams from Dartmouth, the University of Denver, University of Massachusetts, Montana State University and St. Andrews Presbyterian University.

South Asian Cultural Show and Dinner for Charity


The South Asian Medical Student Association will present a South Asian cultural show and dinner on Saturday, November 20, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hahnemann University Hospital Geary Auditorium (15th and Vine Streets).

The dinner will benefit the South Asian Marrow Association of Recruiters. The cost is $6 if paid in advance at the student life office on the Center City Hahnemann Campus or $8 at the door.

Judicial Board Seeking New Members


Are you a Drexel student who is interested in the judicial process? The Judicial Board is a good way to learn about the judicial process, and a good way to meet others who are part of the Drexel community.

The deadline for applications is Friday, November 19, 2004 at 5 p.m. Applications should be dropped off in the Student Life Office, Creese Student Union Complex, suite 215 (33rd and Chestnut Streets).

Drexel in Iceland Deadline Extended


Drexel Spring Break in Iceland has extended its application deadline until December 1, 2004.

This unique study abroad program combines winter term coursework worth 1.5 credits and a one week spring break trip to Iceland that will involve extensive site visits and an intensive immersion in Icelandic culture. While the program is of particular interest to COMAD students, all students with sophomore standing are encouraged to apply.

Radoslav Zuk Exhibition in Architecture Department Lobby


The exhibition "Radoslav Zuk - Tradition and the Present" will be shown in the lobby of the Architecture Department (3201 Arch Street) from today, November 19, 2004 through Friday, December 3, 2004. The show features Ukrainian churches (above) in North America designed by Radoslav Zuk, either in association with or as a consultant to architectural firms in Canada and the U.S.A.

The exhibition consists of black-and-white photographs, drawings of plans and sections, and descriptions of Zuk's projects for the expansion of the National Museum of Ukrainian Art in Kyiv. This traveling exhibition has been shown in Munich, Germany; Delft, The Netherlands; in Sheffield, Leicester and Cambridge, Great Britain; as well as in Toronto, New York and Washington. It has also been shown in Ukraine.

The College of Nursing and Health Professions was featured in a segment broadcast on November 17, 2004 on WTXF-TV (Fox-29) for opening a new dental and fitness center in North Philadelphia. The 76ers donated the equipment.

Dr. Carl Drott (above), associate professor in the College of Information Science and Technology, was featured on WTXF-TV (Fox-29) on November 17, 2004 in a segment concerning the motion picture industry's federal lawsuits against those who download pirated movies.

Drexel alumnus, Dr. Michael Pellini '90, was featured in a November 17, 2004 article in mysan.de for his entrepreneur-in-residence appointment at BioAdvance, the Biotechnology Greenhouse of Southeastern Pennsylvania, to help provide solutions to major medical and life sciences challenges.
