To Open at Pearlstein Gallery
The Leonard Pearlstein Gallery,
located in Nesbitt Hall (33rd and Market Streets), will present the exhibition
"Ephraim Russell: Recent Work" from November 12 - December 5, 2003.
A wine and cheese reception will be held in Nesbitt Hall on Wednesday, November 12, 2003, from 5 - 7 p.m. to celebrate the exhibition's opening. The reception is free and open to the public. The Pearlstein Gallery is open Monday - Friday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. or by appointment. For more information, call Amanda Black at 215-895-2548.

Drexel Student Among Top One Percent
Of New York Marathon Runners
Joerg Dickert
(above), an electrical and computer engineering exchange student from Germany's
Technical University of Dresden, competed in the 2003 New York Marathon on November
2 with a time of 2:55:33, just 45 minutes off the pace of winner Martin Lel
of Kenya. Dickert's time placed him among the top 0.86 percent of the more than
34,700 finishers.

Paula Marantz Cohen to Read
at Arts, Books & Culture Festival
Paula Marantz Cohen,
distinguished professor of literature, will read from her critically acclaimed
novel Jane Austen in Boca tonight at 7 at the Festival of Arts, Books
& Culture at the Katz Jewish Community Center (1301 Springdale Rd., Cherry
Hill, N.J.)
In a witty twist on Pride and Prejudice, Cohen uses Florida's Jewish retirement "villages" to follow the exploits of a widow and her friends seeking companionship and marriage. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Harriett Pozen at 856-424-4444 ext. 108.

Scholarly Communication Speaker Series
Mary Rose Muccie, journals publisher of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), will present "Scholarly Publishing in Mathematics," on Thursday, November 13, 2003, from 3 - 5 p.m. in Hagerty Library's Stern Conference Room (33rd and Market Streets).
The free discussion is open to the public and will focus on the changing face of professional and scholarly publishing, especially in mathematics. Particular emphasis will be placed on the impact of electronic publishing on authors, editors, readers and SIAM. Light refreshments will be served. Lecture by Writer Peter Egan of Playmakers
Live from Hollywood! The
Dramatic Writing Program, the Film & Video Program and the Department of
Media Arts invite Drexel students, faculty and staff to meet a writer at the
top of his game. Screenwriter Peter Egan went from writing
Rugrats cartoons to complicating the lives of head coach Mike George
and his team on the ESPN series Playmakers. Come see an episode and find
out how to turn football into fiction.

broadcast a story about the new book co-authored by Dr. Murugan Anandarajan,
associate professor of MIS in LeBow College of Business, which argues that letting
workers surf the Internet can yield some beneficial side effects such as better
time management, stress reduction, improvement of skill sets and helping to
