The Department of Psychology, the Philadelphia Behavior Therapy Association and Pearson Education will host a seminar, “Distinguishing Scientific from Pseudoscientific Mental Health Practices,” on Monday, October 6, 2008, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Auditorium, Bossone Research Enterprise Center (Market Street, between 31st and 32nd Streets).
The presenter will be Dr. Scott O. Lilienfeld, professor of psychology, Emory University. He received the 1998 David Shakow Award; is the founder and editor of the Scientific Review of Mental Health Practice; associate editor of Applied and Preventive Psychology; and a regular columnist for Scientific American Mind magazine.

CAA Blood Challenge – Have A Heart!
The Department of Athletics announces the seventh annual "Have A Heart" Colonial Athletic Association Blood Challenge on October 30, 2008.
All Drexel campuses will participate in the blood drive. Two years ago the Dragons beat their arch rivals, the Blue Hens of the University of Delaware, and shattered the Hens' four-year winning streak.

Comedy Improv Team Holds Auditions
The Drexel Football Team, the University's comedy improv troupe, is presenting its first show on Friday, October 17, 2008, at 8 p.m. at Stein Auditorium, Nesbitt Hall (33rd and Market Streets). Anyone interested in joining the group is invited to audition.
The fast-paced style, completely improvised on the spot , has made the troupe one of the hottest events on campus. The Football Team holds regular shows each quarter for audiences including the general public, often numbering in the hundreds.

The Steinbright Career Development Center will host an information session with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) today, October 2, 2008, from 5 to 6 p.m. in room 2019, MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
USPTO is a cutting-edge agency dealing with intellectual property issues around the world. The USPTO is a fully user fee-funded government organization with an annual budget of more than $1.3 billion and an overall staff of 9,000 engineers, scientists and attorneys. The Dance Program will celebrate the opening of The Ellen Forman Memorial Dance Studio with a reception honoring Ellen Forman on Friday, October 3, 2008, at 7 p.m. at Mandell Theater (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
Ellen Forman, a Philadelphia dance pioneer, was not only an innovative choreographer and charismatic performer, but was also co-founder and director of South Street Dance Company. She produced "Body/Language" at the Painted Bride Art Center, which brought artists together to explore the integration of text and dance.
This opening is presented in conjunction with the newly-offered bachelor's degree in Dance, which leads to a master's degree in Dance/Movement Therapy.

The Judo Club's first fall practice will take place today, October 2, 2008, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Activity Room 2, Daskalakis Athletic Center (33rd and Market Streets).
The Judo Club practices year-round for students who would like to do it for recreational purposes and students who would like to compete in tournaments. Learn how to throw, wrestle and get in shape from a group of five experienced instructors.
