Drexel to Host Democratic Presidential Candidates Debate

NBC News has chosen Drexel as the Philadelphia venue for the next televised Democratic debate. The University will welcome the eight Democratic presidential candidates, the NBC News and MSNBC News crews, and the Democratic National Committee on Tuesday, October 30, 2007.

More information about the debate will be posted on Drexel's Web site, http://www.drexel.edu, as it becomes available.

SCDC Online Features Job Postings for Seniors and Graduate Students

Seniors scheduled to graduate between now and June, 2008, and graduate students looking for full-time jobs can access more than 280 career opportunities provided by the Steinbright Career Development Center (SCDC) recruiting program. Employers are seeking to fill more than 2,400 open positions.

The deadline to apply for these jobs is Friday, October 5, 2007.

Get Ready for the Fall Career Fair

Students looking for a full-time job or co-op position or those who want to find out about options and opportunities for employment in the future can attend the Fall Career Fair, sponsored by the Steinbright Career Development Center, on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Daskalakis Athletic Center (33rd and Market Streets).

Students can get ready for the career fair by attending a workshop and learning how to:

Career Fair workshops will be held today, October 1, 2007 at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Workshops will be held in Suite 250, SCDC Conference Room (3201 Arch Street). Pre-registration is not required, but due to space limitations only 20 students per session can be accommodated.

SCDC & KTE Co-op Honor Society Host Microsoft for Information Session

Students are invited to join the Microsoft Corporation for an evening to learn about co-op and full-time employment opportunities, tonight, October 1, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Bossone Research Enterprise Center (31st and Market Street). A 2006 Drexel graduate will speak to current students about the array of exciting and rewarding options available.

Drexel TrebleMakers Schedule Fall Auditions

The Drexel TrebleMakers, the only all-female a-capella group on campus, will hold its annual fall auditions on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at 7 p.m. in Room 2031, MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets).

The TrebleMakers host a variety of shows on campus, including A-Capella-FEST in March and their Spring Concert in May. They also travel to other schools to sing a-capella arrangements from a variety of musical genres.

Any Drexel student may attend this open audition session. A 30-second solo is required for the audition, which will also include sight reading, range testing, and learning a short section from one of the group's current songs.

Domestic Abuse Project Representative to Meet with VIEW

Violence Information & Education for Women (VIEW) will hold its first general meeting on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at 5 p.m. in Room 226, Creese Student Center (32nd and Chestnut Streets).

Phi Sigma Pi National Co-ed Honor Fraternity to Host Fall Rush

Phi Sigma Pi, the national co-ed honor fraternity, will hold its fall rush on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, from 8 to 9 p.m. in Room 2019, MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets) and on Wednesday, October 3, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Behrakis Grand Hall, Creese Student Center (32nd and Chestnut Streets).

Candidates for membership in the honors fraternity must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and at least two quarters remaining before graduation. New freshmen, who have acquired no collegiate GPA, are not yet eligible.

Benefits Buzz!
