Sierra Club to Lead Night Ride
The Drexel Sierra Club will lead a "Sierra Night Ride" on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 beginning at 9 p.m. at the Mario the Dragon sculpture (33rd and Market Streets).
Participants will ride around the city, visiting various Philadelphia sites and enjoying the after-dark temperatures.
Students, faculty and staff are welcome to join the night ride.

DUCOM Opens Mass Spectrometry Facility
Drexel University College of Medicine announces the opening of a mass spectrometry facility housed in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Special discount pricing is offered to Drexel researchers. Facility staff are availble to discuss how their mass spectrometry/proteomics services might contribute to research, from simple protein identifications to large-scale quantitative proteomic analyses.
Some features of the facility:
The facility will be managed by John Deuso, a 2003 Drexel graduate, and directed by Dr. Keith Vosseller, assistant professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Together, they will work with the College and the University to provide the highest quality in service and customer satisfaction to all researchers. Undergraduate Mock Trial Tryouts
Drexel's Mock Trial Team will hold individual tryouts for the team on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 from 6 to 10 p.m.
The tryout requires no prior legal knowledge or mock trial experience. Mock Trial is an excellent organization for students to consider, even if they do not have an interest in studying the law. The experience will challenge students intellectually and add to their resume.
This tryout will require preparation of a direct examination from a brief affidavit that will be provided prior to the tryout. If students do not know what direct examination questions are, they can still come prepared with a general understanding of the facts presented in the material. Tryouts will only last 10 minutes per student.
To schedule a tryout, students should email DUMockTrial@gmail.com by 10 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2008 with a preferred tryout time. Students will receive a room assignment as well as the tryout material when they register.

Commuter Student Programs and Services will host a Disability Awareness Event on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from 4 to 5 p.m. in rooms 2019/2020, MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
All students are encouraged to come and share their own stories and learn more about the perceptions of those with disabilities. Dr. Marlene Koestenblatt, accomodations specialist, Office of Disability Services, will present on the subject. The award-winning short video Talk will also be shown. Talk portrays a society in which non-disabled people are a pitied minority and disabled people lead full and active lives. John Kerrigan (above), of the BBC program Casualty, plays a business executive whose negative preconceptions of disability are dramatically shattered.
The event is free and open to students, faculty and staff. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.

Dr. Eric Zilmer Exhibits at Manifesta7
Dr. Eric Zilmer (above), Carl R. Pacifico Professor of Neuropsychology in the Department of Psychology, was invited to assist in shaping an exhibition, "The Museum of Projective Personality Testing" at Manifesta7.
The exhibitions associated with Manifesta7 span four cities in northern Italy and are considered a highpoint in international contemporary art, bringing together the work of more than 100 artists, scholars and intellectuals. Manifesta7, on display for 100 days, closes on Monday, November 3, 2008.

PROM Receives Barrymore Nomination
New Paradise Laboratories’ play PROM, which was performed by Drexel students and professional actors as part of the Mandell Professionals in Residence Project (MPiRP) last spring, has received a nomination for a Barrymore Award for Excellence in Theater in the category Outstanding Choreography/Movement.
The nomination recognizes the hard work of Drexel students who held prominent roles on stage and created the movement for the choreography-heavy show along with the many students who worked backstage to make the show a success.
MPiRP is an ongoing program of the Department of Performing Arts in the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design.
