CAB to Host Free Back Massages During Finals

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) will sponsor free back massages to relieve the stress from taking finals today, June 10, and Thursday, June 12, 2008, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Creese Student Center (32nd and Chestnut Streets).

CAB will also continue to host events throughout the summer term.

POPPED! Music Festival Coming to Campus

POPPED!, an outdoor music festival, will come to campus on Saturday, June 21, 2008, from noon to 10 p.m., onstage at 33rd Street, between Market and Arch Streets.

Headliners include: Vampire Weekend, Gogol Bordello and Mates of State. Also featured: The Ting Tings, Crystal Castles, Mr. Lif and MAD Dragon recording artists Hoots and Hellmouth.

The POPPED! Festival is a three-day annual Philadelphia event. This year, POPPED! will use Drexel University, Trocadero and World Cafe Live as its venues over three days, June 20, 21, and 22, 2008. POPPED! will host globally recognized artists as well as breakthrough local artists, creating lineups each night with unique performances in a boutique setting.

The Festival will have a focus on being "green" and will educate concert-goers on the importance of a sustainable lifestyle.

Student volunteers will ensure that the festival maintains its green initiatives. POPPED! is dedicated to ridding the festival of water bottles and to using recycled paper for everything from tickets to sheet music. Vendors with interactive displays will educate concert-goers about sustainability issues.

Graphics Senior Show Opening Today

The Graphic Design Program in the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design will present an opening reception and senior show today, June 10, 2008 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard Pearlstein Gallery, Nesbitt Hall (32nd and Market Streets).

Students will exhibit more than ten works each in publications, Web and environmental design, packaging, corporate identity, paper sculpture and motion graphics, showcasing their talent and versatility.

The show and reception are free and open to the public.

Wimba Showcase at Drexel

Drexel will host a Wimba Showcase, "Trends in Education and Technology Best Practices in Online Instruction," on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, beginning at 9 a.m. in Patten Auditorium, Matheson Hall (32nd and Market Streets).

Wimba is a fully-featured, live virtual classroom that supports audio, video, application sharing and content display, enabling instructors to add vitally important elements of interaction. Instructors can customize online courses by holding live classes, office hours, guest lectures, webcasts and meetings online. Wimba is available through Bb Vista.

A breakfast brunch will be available during arrival and sign-in at 9 a.m. Wimba will also offer light lunch fare until noon. Both meals represent a great networking opportunity.

The event is free and open to individuals from Drexel as well as institutions in the Greater Philadelphia region interested in learning about Wimba usage and in networking with Wimba representatives and other practitioners.

The sessions are demonstrations of unique uses of Wimba Classroom and the suite of Wimba Voice Tools.

Retirement Plan Individual Conferences

Human Resources will host individual investment education conferences with TIAA-CREF at the Center City Hahnemann Campus today, June 10, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Human Resources Department, 1st floor, Bellet Building (1505 Race Street).

Individual conferences with TIAA-CREF will be held on Wednesday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in seminar room A02 at the Queen Lane Medical Campus (3200 Queen Lane).
