Design and Merchandising Show: Style Tribes v6.0

The Design and Merchandising Program in the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design will present Style Tribes v6.0, beginning with an opening reception, on Wednesday, June 11, 2008, from 6 to 9 p.m. at International House (3701 Chestnut Street).

Through their coursework in Visual Merchandising II, six Design and Merchandising students explored the tribal connection between fashion, music and social groups. Their research led them to fashion "tribes," categorized as Preppies, Hipsters and Gamers.

Style Tribes v6.0 demonstrates how style creates a connection between people regardless of gender, race, religion or geography. Anne Cecil, Design and Merchandising program director, is the curator for the exhibition, which runs through Friday, August 22.

The show and reception are free and open to the public.

Viewing hours at International House are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
