Men's Lacrosse to Host Hofstra in Championship Finals Tomorrow

Men’s lacrosse will host Hofstra in the finals of the CAA Championship Tournament on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 5 p.m. at the Vidas Athletic Complex (43rd Street and Powelton Avenue).

The Dragons advanced to the championship game for the first time ever with an 11-5 victory over Villanova in the semifinal on Wednesday, April 26. The winner of the contest will earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Sophomore Colin Ambler led the Dragons with three goals and two assists as his team jumped out to a 7-1 lead and held on for the victory over Villanova. Senior Andrew Chapman also tallied for the Dragons in the win. He is now just one goal shy of scoring 40 for a second straight season.

The championship showdown with Hofstra is a rematch of a thrilling double-overtime Drexel victory against the Pride on March 29. The Dragons rallied from a 7-2 deficit in the game. Chapman scored the game-winner in that contest with 2:41 remaining in the second overtime to give Drexel the 9-8 victory. Drexel is 2-18 all-time against Hofstra, but the Dragons’ two victories over the Pride have come in the teams’ last two meetings.

Individual tickets are $5 for adults and free for children under 12. Students with valid I.D. will also receive free admission. Parking for the event is free at the Vidas Athletic Complex.

There are no advance ticket sales for this game.
