The Drexel Dragons Men's Lacrosse
The Drexel men's lacrosse team will host the University of Delaware in the semifinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Championships. The game will be played at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Vidas Field (43rd Street and Powelton Avenue).
The winner of the Drexel-Delaware game will face the winner of the Towson-Hofstra game that also takes place on Wednesday. Towson is the top seed in the tournament and will host the CAA championship game if it defeats Hofstra
The Dragons enter the tournament as the number two seed after defeating Hofstra on Saturday, 8-7. Drexel went 11-4 during the regular season and finished 5-1 in the CAA, tying Hofstra for the top spot in the league. Delaware finished the regular season with a 9-5 record and a 4-2 mark in CAA play.
Tickets are $5 general admission and Children 12 years and younger are free. Student admission for both Drexel University and University of Delaware students is free with a valid student ID.

OGCR Seeks Volunteers for 2007 “Celebrate Health” Fair
The Office of Government and Community Relations (OGCR), along with the Mantua Community Improvement Committee and Councilwoman Jannie L. Blackwell, will host its annual Celebrate Health Fair on May 12, 2007, from noon to 4 p.m. The event will take place at the West Philadelphia Community Center (3512 Haverford Avenue).
The OGCR is seeking volunteers to help make the fair a success. The fair will include health education and screenings, free food and beverages, free prizes drawings, giveaways and much more.

Gastroenterology Presents "Mentoring Excellence to Our Students"
Drexel University College of Medicine Department of Medicine Division of Gastroenterology presents Dr. Suzanne Rose on the subject "Mentoring Excellence to Our Students" today, May 1, 2007, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Drexel University College of Medicine New College Building, Geary Auditorium Lecture Room B (245 N. 15th Street). Refreshments will be served.
Suzanne Rose, M.D., FACG, FAGA, is professor of medicine and associate dean for education at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

SCDC to Hold Networking Night - Looking for a Job?
The Steinbright Career Development Center will hold a Networking Night on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Behrakis Grand Hall, Creese Student Center (32nd and Chestnut Streets).
Students will meet and interact with employers during this casual networking event to get advice about job opportunities and career paths, establish new connections, learn about employment trends, and more. In addition, students will have the opportunity to submit resumes to participating employers for consideration.
This event is open to all Drexel students, but those who are still seeking employment are encouraged to attend in order to make personal connections with potential future employers.

Amplify Student Voices: Partner for Change
A student panel will discuss significant student issues on Thursday, May 3, 2007, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Living Arts Lounge (MacAlister Hall, 33rd and Chestnut Streets).
Topics to be discussed include the desire for increased community interaction and common space, greater transparency about decision-making, decreased fragmentation within the University and better communication both interdepartmentally and between University staff and students.
Following the panel discussion, students, faculty and staff will gather in small groups to plan the next steps we will take in our ongoing efforts to improve Drexel.
Those who can only make it to half the event are welcome.

CEO Workshops on "Reflection in Service" and "Laws of Leadership"
Creating Excellent Organizations (CEO) will offer two workshops today, May 1, 2007.
1) Thomas Dahan, AmeriCorps*VISTA Center for Civic Engagement will present "Reflection in Service". Learn strategies for improving community service programs through stories from "Scholars in Service" at Drexel University.This presentation will be held two times: Noon to 1:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m., Room 226, Creese Student Center (32nd and Chestnut Streets).
2) Students from the CEO II advanced leadership training and Brad Kenny, coordinator, Office of Campus Activities, will present "21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership: Based on Dr. John Maxwell's Books and Corporate Leadership Trainings." This Presentation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Room 2020, MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets).

Author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie to Speak on Friday
Novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (above), a former Drexel University student who was featured in the May 2007 issue of Jane magazine's "30 Under 30," will be reading her fiction and giving an informal talk on Friday, May 4, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the Living Arts Lounge, Creese Student Union Complex (32nd and Chestnut Streets).
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's first novel, Purple Hibiscus, won the Commonwealth Writers Prize for Best First Book (2005). Her second novel, Half a Yellow Sun, which is set during the civil war in Nigeria, won critical acclaim, including being named one of the top books of 2006 by The New York Times. Her short fiction has appeared in Granta, Prospect, The New Yorker, Per Contra and The Iowa Review among other literary journals. She received an O. Henry Prize in 2003.

Materials Science and Engineering Seminar on Li-Ion Battery Capacity Fade
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering will present Dr. Michael J. Wagner (above), associate professor of chemistry at the George Washington University, on "Understanding the Dramatic Improvement of Li-Ion Battery Capacity Fade in Graphite Based Li-Ion Anodes with the Addition of Fullerene Soot" today, May 1, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Hill Conference Room, Room 240, LeBow Engineering Building (31st and Market Streets).
Dr. Wagner will discuss how the addition of a small amount of fullerene soot to SFG-15 synthetic graphite results in an electrode material that retains dramatically more of its initial capacity over the course of extended charge-discharge cycles than SFG-15 alone.
Refreshments will be served immediately after the seminar in the Materials Science and Engineering Lounge, LeBow Engineering Building room 331 (31st and Market Streets). All are invited to come and speak personally with Dr. Wagner.
