The Department of Computer Science will present a lecture "Assuring Object-oriented Architecture" today, April 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. in room 153, University Crossings (32nd and Market Streets).
Dr. Jonathan Aldrich (above) of Carnegie Mellon University will be the speaker.
Getting the architecture of a software system right is increasingly recognized as crucial to that system's success. This task is especially difficult in object-oriented systems, due to their complex and dynamic structure. Dr. Aldrich will describe recent work on assuring conformance between a specification of architecture and object-oriented implementation code. He will present a novel variant of ownership types that allows the architect to specify how run-time object structures should map to higher-level architecture components.
This talk is part of the Computer Science Colloquium Series.
