Women's Studies to Screen Georgian Film
Women's Studies, in conjunction with the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Division of Student
Life will present Since Otar Left, the award-winning film from the post-Communist Republic of Georgia, as part of the Women's History Month Film Series, .
The screening will take place at 6 p.m. today, April 13, 2005 in the Living Arts Lounge, adjacent to Mandell Theater (33rd and Chestnut Streets).

Entrepreneurial Opportunities for Women Engineers Panel
Women in Engineering will hold a panel discussion and networking reception today,
April 13, 2005 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Westphal Picture Gallery (on the third floor of the Main Building,
32nd and Chestnut Streets).
The panel will discuss the entrepreneurial opportunities available today for women in engineering. Panelists will include:

Peer Counseling Helpline Deadline Extended
The Peer Counseling Helpline is currently recruiting new peer counselors.
If you are an undergraduate student who is an excellent listener, empathetic, committed to helping others, and willing to volunteer your time, pick up an application at the Counseling Center in room 201, Creese Student Union Complex (32nd and Chestnut Streets). All application materials are due by Friday, April 15, 2005.

CoMAD, Rudman Institute to Host Screenwriting Seminar
The College of Media Arts & Design's screenwriting and playwriting program
and the Kal and Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies
will host the seminar "The Great Hollywood Story Search" on Saturday,
April 23, 2005 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the University Crossings screening room
(32nd and Market Streets) on the University City Main Campus.
"The Great Hollywood Story Search" is a mentoring program developed by industry professionals to help gifted undiscovered writers get their "foot in the door" in the film, television or publishing industries. The program was founded by Ron Bechtel, director, author, script consultant, guest lecturer and vice president of development for Walker Lane Inc., a Los Angeles-based independent production company. Bechtel will be joined at the seminar by award-winning screenwriter Ken Rotcop and Douglas Schwartz, creator and producer of Baywatch.
The event is open to the public, but seating is limited. The cost of the seminar is $109 for students, educators and senior citizens and $149 for the general public. Group discounts are available. CEO Presents "Networking for Dummies"
The Creating Excellent Organizations (CEO) program will hold the workshop "Networking
for Dummies - Contacts Not Computers" on Thursday, April 14, 2005 from
6-7:30 p.m. in the Myers Hall Tutor Lounge (33rd and Race Streets).
Entrepreneur Jock Sommese (above) of Smart Business Publishing will discuss skills for setting goals, prep work, jumping in and out of conversations, following up and more. Participants will obtain one contact in their field with whom to start networking. Attendees must wear business casual attire and participate in workshop exercises. Participants are encouraged to bring business cards if they have them.

Great Works Symposium to Present Lecture on Die Fledermaus
Musical Theater, the Drexel Great Works Symposium for the spring 2005 term,
will present a lecture on the opera Die Fledermaus on Thursday, April
13, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. in Nesbitt Hall's Stein Auditorium (33rd and Market Streets).
Dr. Moylan C. Mills (above) , professor emeritus of the integrative arts at Penn State University-Abington, is the guest speaker.

In Memoriam: Trustee Emeritus Albert Soffa '44
Drexel University Trustee Emeritus Albert Soffa, '44, died
on Sunday, April 10, 2005. He was 84 years old.
Co-founder of Kulicke & Soffa Industries and pioneer of the first wire bonder, Mr. Soffa earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Drexel in 1944. He was an innovator who helped develop the modern integrated circuit packaging industry. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Soffa had a great passion for the arts and was a gifted sculptor; he created busts of several Drexel presidents.
Mr. Soffa was a member of Drexel Board of Trustees, the College of Engineering Advisory Board, the Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics Industrial Advisory Board, and the Judaic Studies Advisory Board. In honor of Mr. Soffa and his wife, Harriet, the College of Engineering has The Albert and Harriet Soffa Professor of Mechanical Engineering. The College also has an Albert Soffa Endowed Scholarship for an undergraduate mechanical or electrical engineering student.
For his commitment to the University, Mr. Soffa received the Anthony J. Drexel Award and was inducted into The Drexel 100 in 1992.
In addition to his wife, Mr.Soffa is survived by his son Mark; daughter Carol Baldridge; daughter-in-law Kristine; son-in-law Benjamin; sister Frances Gross; and grandchildren Jacob, Julia, Samuel, David and Emily. Contributions in his memory can be made to Drexel in support of our Judaic Studies Program or to American Associates of Ben Gurion University, Jenkintown, Pa.
