CoAS Discussion: "Is Your Mind Just a Computer Program?"
The College of Arts and Sciences will host a discussion, "Is Your Mind Just A Computer Program?" on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in room 4016, MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
The discussion (about computer programs and personal identity, based on the philosopher Daniel Dennett's famous article "Where Am I?") will be led by Dr. Gregory Johnson, adjunct professor, English and Philosophy Department. There is no required reading, but Daniel Dennett's article "Where Am I?" can be found online at: http://instruct.westvalley.edu/lafave/where_am_i.html
All are welcome to come to this free event, sponsored by the Drexel Philosophy Club and the English and Philosophy Department.

Open House: Learn How to Get Involved with WKDU
WKDU 91.7FM, Drexel's student-run radio station in the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design, is hosting an open house for prospective new members on Thursday, February 28, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the lobby of Creese Student Center (32nd and Chestnut Streets).
The open house will provide an opportunity for those interested in radio and new music and in meeting like-minded people, to find out how to get involved with WKDU and become part of a unique, fun and important part of the University.
The event is free and open to all members of the Drexel community.

CoAS Seminar: "The Role of Business Collectives in Crime Prevention"
The College of Arts and Sciences' Dean's Seminar Series will present "The Role of Business Collectives in Crime Prevention: Lessons from Philadelphia, San Diego, and Los Angeles" on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, from 3 to 5 p.m. in room 109 of Disque Hall (32nd Street between Market and Chestnut Streets).
Dr. Robert Stokes, assistant professor, Department of Culture and Communications, will discuss the crime prevention activities of business collectives in three major cities: Philadelphia, San Diego and Los Angeles. Dr. Stokes will discuss the theoretical framework for the role of business collectives in crime prevention outcomes. More broadly, he will examine the role of local and regional business collectives in the development of crime prevention policies and public safety planning. His research in Philadelphia, San Diego and Los Angeles will form a backdrop for a discussion of local community economic development actors (business improvement districts) and how these organizations vary across cities in their respective abilities to marshal positive outcomes for their host communities.
This event is free and open to students, faculty and staff.

Workshop Today: Register for Classes Like a Pro
The Office of the Provost will sponsor a workshop on everything you need to know about registration today, February 26 from 3 to 6 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 28, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Mary Hagerty Room, W.W. Hagerty Library (33rd and Market Streets).
With freshman course registration quickly approaching (Wednesday, March 5 and Thursday, March 6), it is important that students build their schedules ahead of time and know the system inside and out. Upperclass mentors will be facilitating workshops in the W.W. Hagerty Library that will provide students with the tools and tips necessary to enroll in the classes that they need and want.
Students are encouraged to stop in at any time. The 15-to 30-minute workshops will help ensure that the spring quarter class registration process is a smooth one. Complimentary hot food and cold beverages will be provided.

CNN's Jim Clancy to Deliver Keynote Address at Student Conference
The Office of International Programs will present a student conference, "Global Challenges 2008: Responsibility and Empowerment" from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 29, 2008, at the Edmund D. Bossone, Research Enterprise Center (Market Street between 31st and 32nd Streets).
CNN International reporter and anchor Jim Clancy (above) will deliver the keynote address at 3 p.m. in the Mitchell Auditorium of the Edmund D. Bossone Research Enterprise Center.
As future leaders and global citizens, students are confronted by enormous global challenges but also by new opportunities for innovation, creative problem solving and global cooperation. How do students see these challenges and opportunities? What are their responsibilities as global citizens, and how they can empower themselves as future leaders?
Walk-ins are welcome.

Steinbright Employer Info Sessions Tonight: NAVSEA and Infosys
The Steinbright Career Development Center (SCDC) will host an information session with NAVSEA today, February 26, 2008, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the south section of Behrakis Grand Hall (32nd and Chestnut Streets) and with Infosys Technologies from 6 to 7 p.m. in room 2019, MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
The largest of the Navy's five systems commands, NAVSEA maintains the current Navy, acquires the "next Navy" and designs the Navy of the future. Accounting for nearly one-fifth of the Navy's budget, NAVSEA manages more than 150 acquisition programs and has 33 activities in 16 states.

Lecture Tonight: Greece's Former Minister of Defense and National Economy
Dr. Yannos Papantoniou (above), former minister of defense and national economy of Greece, will present a lecture, "Greece's Modernization Process: Problems and Prospects," today, February 26, 2008, at 6 p.m. at the Anthony J. Drexel Picture Gallery, third floor, Main Building (32nd and Chestnut Streets).
Dr. Papantoniou currently serves as an Onassis Foundation Senior Visiting Scholar at the University of Athens. In 1981, he was elected as a member of the European Parliament and in 1984 became advisor to the prime minister on European Economic Community affairs. Since June 1989, he has been an elected member of the Greek Parliament. He served as deputy minister of National Economy, minister of Commerce, minister of National Economy and Finance, and minister of National Defense.
Over the 12-month period in 2002-03, when Greece held the presidency of the European Union's Council of Defense Ministers, Dr. Papantoniou helped to coordinate the policies that led to the creation of the European Military Force and its engagement in international peacekeeping operations as well as the establishment of the European Defense Agency.
Dr. Papantoniou studied economics at the Universities of Athens and Wisconsin, history at the Sorbonne (France), and obtained his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Cambridge (U.K).
A reception will follow the lecture.

CEO Workshop Today: Ethical Leadership
The Creating Excellent Organizations (CEO) Program will offer a workshop, "Ethical Leadership," today, February 26, 2008, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in room 2020, MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
This workshop, presented by Lesley Villarose, associate director, Student Union Operations, will cover the importance of ethical decision making for students as they face dilemmas in their personal and professional lives. Students will learn the steps to making ethical decisions and will be given ethical dilemmas in which they can practice these skills.

Counseling Center to Offer Screenings for Eating Disorders
The Counseling Center on the University City Main Campus will offer free anonymous screenings for eating disorders and disordered eating patterns as part of the National Eating Disorders Screening Program today, February 26, 2008, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the University Bookstore, MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
Those who are concerned for themselves or for a friend or family member, are urged to attend this free program to learn how to get help.

Pool Tournament Tonight at Ross Commons
Ross Commons will hold a pool tournament today, February 26, 2008, with sign-up beginning at 6:30 p.m. and competition beginning at 7 p.m.
This tournament provides a chance to win prizes and the top winner will receive a grand prize of Ultima Funds.
A two-for-one pizza special at The 2nd Floor is available from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m.
Tournament Tuesdays, with alternating bingo and pool tournaments every other week, are held each tuesday night at Ross Commons.

Dr. David A.
