Planning Meetings Slated for I Am Drexel Campaign
The I Am Drexel Campaign is a student-run, school-spirit campaign that puts on fun events around campus, gives out useful information and items to the student body, encourages optimism on campus and, in doing so, sets a positive tone for students at Drexel.

Drexel to Host Third Annual County Breakfast Series
President Papadakis (above) will join five other guest speakers tomorrow, January 30, 2007 at 8 a.m. in Behrakis Grand Hall (32rd and Chestnut Streets), as Drexel hosts the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce's third annual County Breakfast Series on Higher Education. This part of the series focuses on the impact of Greater Philadelphia's 88 colleges and universities on regional economic growth and is presented by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and Wachovia.
Greater Philadelphia colleges and universities are excellent resources for qualified employees and co-op students, professional development and continuing employee education, cutting-edge research and innovation. About 400 business leaders are expected to attend the breakfast meeting.

"Who is Philly's Fittest College?" Challenge Begins this Week
Beginning this week, Drexel will be competing with Temple, St. Joe's, Villanova, LaSalle and Philadelphia University for the title of "Philly's Fittest College".
The competition will end in four weeks, when the school with the most improvement in weight, body fat and resting heart rate will win. Students can still register to help Drexel win the title.
Registration can be completed at http://www.flipfitness.com or at one of the classes held on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. and Thursdays at 4 p.m. in the group fitness area of the Daskalakis Athletic Center (33rd and Market Streets). A $15 participation fee is required.
At the start of the competition, students will receive a Flip Fitness deck of playing cards, and on each card there is a different workout activity. The goal of every workout is to complete all 52 cards in 30 minutes.

Women's Health Education Series Will "Let Me Understand You"
The Women's Health Education Program of the Drexel University College of Medicine's Department of Medicine, will hold a series of presentations on the theme "Please Let Me Understand You. My Life Depends on It" under the direction of Dr. Sunil Kripalani, health literacy visiting professor and assistant professor of internal medicine at Emory University.

MSE to Host Dr. Margarita Herrera-Alonso
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering presents Dr. Margarita Herrera-Alonso (above), a research assistant from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Princeton University, who will give a talk titled "Fabrication of Polymeric Nanostructures by Template-assisted Methods and Self-assembly" on Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at 10 a.m. in Room 303, Bossone Research Enterprise Center (31st and Market Streets).
Dr. Herrera-Alonso, a Fulbright scholar from Mexico, will discuss the fabrication of polymeric nanostructures by two different methods: poly(p-xylylene) nanotubes by template-assisted vapor deposition polymerization and amphiphilic block copolymer nanoparticles as vehicles for drug delivery.
Refreshments will be served immediately after the seminar in Room 331, LeBow Engineering Center.

Public Health Seminar: Epidemiological and Biostatical Analysis
Dr. Constantine Daskalakis of Thomas Jefferson University will deliver a seminar on "Analysis of Outcomes Obtained from Imperfect Sources Without a Gold Standard," today, January 29, 2007, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Dean's Conference Room, 13th Floor, Bellet Building (1505 Race Street). The talk will outline an analytical approach that focuses on latent outcome, which will be illustrated using data from cancer screenings.
Dr. Daskalakis earned his Ph.D. degree in biostatistics and epidemiology from Harvard University and is an assistant professor at Thomas Jefferson University.
The seminar is sponsored by the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health.

DMA Sponsors Trip to QVC in West Chester
The Drexel Marketing Association is sponsoring a trip to QVC in West Chester, Pa. on Friday, February 9, 2007. The day at QVC headquarters will include a studio tour, a meeting with the promotions department, learning about QVC.com, and more.
A QVC recruiter will be present to answer questions about career opportunities in the company. Complimentary lunch will be provided.
Buses will leave Towers Hall at 8:30 a.m. (please arrive no later than 8:15 a.m.) and will return after the conclusion of the program, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

CoAS Presents "The Art of Persistence"
Students are invited to a reading and lecture by Nathan Leslie (above), teacher, author and fiction editor of The Pedestal Magazine and The Potomac, on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at 1 p.m., at the University Club, sixth floor, MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
Nathan Leslie's five collections of short fiction include Believers (Pocol Press, 2006), Reverse Negative (Ravenna Press, 2006) and Drivers (Hamilton Stone Editions, 2005). Leslie's work has appeared in more than 100 literary magazines, including Boulevard, Shenandoah, South Carolina Review, North American Review and Cimarron Review. He is fiction editor for The Pedestal Magazine and The Potomac, and his book reviews and articles have been published in newspapers such as The Washington Post, The Kansas City Star and The Orlando Sentinel.
The lecture is free and open to all students. It's sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, The Certificate Program in Writing and Publishing in the Department of English and Philosophy and Magnificent Minds.

Career-tips Workshops for Seniors
Students who are looking for jobs after graduation and preparing for upcoming campus interviews are encouraged to attend a workshop to learn more about the services offered by the Steinbright Career Development Center (SCDC) at one of the following sessions:
Tuesday, January 30, 11 a.m. to noon
Thursday, February 8, 4 to 5 p.m.
Monday, February 12, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
All workshops will take place in Room 250, SCDC (3201 Arch Street).
The workshops will focus on understanding the campus interview process, including how to apply, what to expect from interviews and how to prepare for interviews and offers; job-search strategies and resources such as how and where to look for additional full-time, professional experiences after graduation; resume tips and feedback such as suggestions on how to maximize the impact your resume and other application materials make on an employer.

Engineers, IST and computer science majors: Are you interested in spending fall term overseas? If so, consider applying for the GE3 program. Earn Drexel credit, keep all your financial aid and expand your world.
The deadline is February 1, 2007. Students choose from more than a dozen different locations, including Germany, Turkey, France, Denmark, Japan and Hong Kong. Students take engineering and technical courses.

LeBow College Presents the Women's Personal Development Series
LeBow College of Business and Drexel Women in Business (DWIB) will present a lecture by alumna Angela Dowd-Burton '74, '80 on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, from 5 to 6 p.m. in Room 101, Pearlstein Business Learning Center (33rd and Market Streets).
The lecture is part of the DWIB's Women's Personal Development Series. Dowd-Burton is the government relations manager for Rohm and Haas Company, and chair emeritus of the Rohm and Haas Women's Leadership Network, which is dedicated to providing a global forum where women can learn, model and promote leadership qualities. She also chairs the Women's Leadership Forum of the Delaware Valley and was recently recognized as one of the Philadelphia Business Journal's 2006 Women of Distinction.
