Africana Studies Plans Youth Symposium on AIDS

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy serves as a model to continue the fight against injustice and issues plaguing African Americans. This year, in honor of Dr. King's legacy, Africana Studies will sponsor a planning session for an upcoming youth symposium on AIDS in the black community. The planning session will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2005 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Students interested in participating should contact Dr. Kali Nicole Gross at kng25@drexel.edu before the meeting.

Currently, AIDS is the number one killer of African Americans aged 25-44. This staggering figure makes HIV/AIDS not only a health issue but also a social and political one. The conference, which will take place this spring at Drexel University, will promote awareness and work to create new methods to arrest the spread of HIV/AIDS.
