Rink (31st and Walnut Streets) on Thursday, January 19, 2006 from 11 p.m. -
1 a.m. The rink is closed to the public, open only to Drexel undergraduate students
with valid ID. Admission is $3 and includes skate rental. Students may bring
one guest per DragonCard. Guest admission is $5.

Academic Bistro for Winter Term
The Department of Hospitality
Studies' Academic Bistro is open for winter term 2005-06. The Bistro is operated
by Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts majors. It is located on the sixth
floor of the Academic Building (33rd and Arch Streets). Make reservations with
Adrienne Hall at 215-895-5872.
Winter term schedule is as follows:
Dinner: Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m.
Dinners are scheduled January 24, 2006 until March 14, 2006
The cost is $22 per person; you may bring your own libations.Lunch: Thursdays and Fridays 12 noon to 1 p.m.
Lunches are scheduled from January 26, 2006 until March 17, 2006
The cost is $9 per person.
Students develop the menus, prepare and serve the food. Weekly menus are posted in the Drexel Daily Digest.

CEO Workshop: Conquering Apathy and Inspiring Action
The Creating Excellent Organizations (CEO) program will hold the workshop "Motivation:
Conquering Apathy and Inspiring Action" today, January 18, 2006 from 6-7:30
p.m. in MacAlister Hall room 2020 (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
Jessica Grace, coordinator of commuter and off-campus programs, will share techniques on how to move groups from apathy to enthusiasm.

Philadelphia Inquirer's John
Timpane to Speak at Drexel
Editor of the commentary page and "Currents" at The Philadelphia Inquirer John Timpane (above) will talk about "This Writing Life" on Tuesday, February 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. in MacAlister Hall's University Club, sixth floor (33rd and Chestnut Streets).
Timpane has authored a number of film scripts, articles and books on writing and poetry, including Poetry for Dummies. He will conduct a multi-genre workshop for students following his lecture at 3:15 p.m. The workshop is limited to 15 students, who should submit a short non-fiction/journalism article, short fiction story or poem for the workshop. Submissions can be emailed as an rtf file to Dr. Miriam N. Kotzin, director of the certificate program in writing and publishing, at kotzinm@drexel.edu.
Timpane has received many awards including the 2000 James K. Batten Award for Excellence in Civic Journalism from the Pew Center for Civic Journalism and the Association of Opinion Page Editors 2004 Award for Best Series.

Seminar on Innovation to Reduce Health Care Disparities
The School of Public Health will hold the Grand Rounds Session "Clinical,
Health Plan and Community Innovation and Intervention to Understand and Reduce
Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care" on Thursday, January 19,
2006 at 4:30 p.m. in the New College Building's Geary Auditorium B (245 N. 15th
Street). The session is part of the Drexel-Health Partners of Philadelphia Seminar
Series on Innovations to Reduce Disparities in Health Care.
As the urgency of reducing racial and ethnic disparities in health care increases in both prominence and importance, health care providers and programs are reexamining traditional approaches, and undertaking new ways to alleviate these longstanding inequities.
The seminar will focus on improving quality of care for diverse residents in Philadelphia; identifying personal and neighborhood influences affecting health and health care; discussing the importance of cultural competence in the care process; and highlighting specific efforts around priority conditions in communities, such as Hepatitis C.
The panel will feature Dr. Dennis Andrulis, director of the Center for Health Equality and associate dean for research in Drexel's School of Public Health; Dr. Merleen Harris-Williams, medical director for Health Partners of Philadelphia; Dr. John Rich, professor chair of the department of health policy and management in the School of Public Health; and Dr. Michael Schaffer, director of health outcomes for Health Partners of Philadelphia.
