Habitat for Humanity to Hold First Meeting of Term
The campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity will hold its first official meeting of the winter term today, Monday, January 14, 2008, at 5:30 p.m. in Conference Room D of the Greenawalt Student Development Center (garden level of Creese Student Center, 32nd and Chestnut Streets).
All are welcome to attend to learn more about Habitat for Humanity and how to get involved with the organization.

Men's and Women's Basketball at the DAC
The men's basketball team begins a three-game home stand against Georgia State on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at 7:30 p.m. at the DAC (33rd and Market Streets).
The men's team will host Hofstra on Saturday, January 19, 2008, at noon in a game that will be televised live on Comcast SportsNet and William & Mary on January 23, 2008.
The women's basketball team returns to action at the DAC on January 17, 2008, at 7 p.m. when they face Northeastern University for the first time since their record-setting, five overtime game last February. The Dragons won that game, the longest game in women’s basketball history, 98-90.

Free Speed Reading Workshops Offered for Students, Faculty and Staff
Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority, Inc. will bring the Iris Group to campus to present speed reading workshops on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, from noon to 1 p.m. and on Thursday, January 17, 2008, from noon to 1 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Conference Room D of the Greenawalt Student Development Center (garden level of Creese Student Center, 32nd and Chestnut Streets).
There is no cost for students/faculty/staff to attend the speed reading workshops. These workshops have also been presented at other schools, including Columbia University, NYU, and the University of Chicago.

Coat and Blanket Drive for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Lecture on Artist Cecilia Beaux in the Anthony Drexel Picture Gallery
On Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at 6 p.m. Monica Zimmerman, program coordinator at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, will give a talk, "Cecilia Beaux: American Figure Painter," in the Anthony J. Drexel Picture Gallery. A portrait (above) of Frances Drexel Paul, daughter of Anthony J. Drexel, by Cecilia Beaux is part of The Drexel Collection and can be viewed in the Gallery in the Paul Peck Alumni Center (32nd and Market Streets).
This lecture is free and open to all.

Members of the Philadelphia Orchestra to Perform at Drexel
The second concert in the Drexel University Campus Concert Series will take place on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 8 p.m. in the ballroom of Van Rensselaer Hall (3320 Powelton Avenue).
The repertoire will include Mozart’s "Duo for Violin and Viola" and "Viola in G Minor," as well as other selections.
Refreshments will be provided and attendees will have the opportunity to meet the musicians following the recital.
This is a free performance and it is open to the entire University community, but seating is limited.

The Pennoni Honors College and the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design are the co-sponsors of this concert series, in partnership with The Philadelphia Orchestra.

Two Drexel Professors Collaborate in Pearlstein Exhibition
Graphic design professor John Langdon and Dr. Eric Zillmer, Carl R. Pacifico Professor of Nueropsychology and director of athletics, have collaborated on a unique exhibition on display in the Pearlstein Gallery through February 8, 2008.
"Open to Interpretation: The Art and Science of the Inkblot" investigates the iconic image and process of the inkblot, presented as both a method of artistic expression and a scientific tool for studying personality and the perceptual process.
The Pearlstein Gallery, located in Nesbitt Hall (33rd and Market Streets), is open to the public Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SCDC Online Features Job Postings for Graduating Students
Students scheduled to graduate between now and June, 2008, who are looking for full-time jobs can access more than 800 job openings provided online by the Steinbright Career Development Center (SCDC) recruiting program. Job postings will be available for review beginning on January 12, 2008.
The deadline for posting a resume and applying for jobs online is Friday, January 25, 2008.

Information Session on Alternative Spring Break
The Asbury Protestant Ministry will host a brief information session on Monday, January 14, 2008, at 6 p.m. in room 0024, MacAlister Hall (33rd and Chestnut Streets) for any students, faculty or staff interested in participating in its Alternative Spring Break trip.
This year's trip will take place from Monday, March 24 through Saturday, March 29.
