This special edition of the Drexel Daily Digest reports selected University news coverage between December 9, 2005 and January 1, 2006.

President Papadakis was quoted in a story in The Philadelphia Inquirer on December 17 and 20, 2005 about the University's recently announced partnership with Burlington County Community College. Stories about the partnership were also published in the Philadelphia Daily News, the Courier-Post (Cherry Hill, N.J.), The Times (Trenton, N.J.), Newsday and The Press (Atlantic City, N.J.) and on MSNBC.com, PhillyBurbs.com, NJ.com and NorthJersey.com. Stories were also broadcast on WNET-TV (PBS-New York), KYW-TV (CBS-3), WPVI-TV (ABC-6) and KYW-AM (1060).

President Papadakis was quoted in a Philadelphia Inquirer story on December 16, 2005 about the opening of the LeBow College of Business Center for Corporate Governance, a think tank that promotes accountability. Dr. Ralph Walkling, Stratakis Endowed Chair in Corporate Governance and Accountability, and Christopher and Mary Stratakis were noted in the story. A story was also published in the Philadelphia Business Journal on December 12. A Reading Eagle (Pa.) columnist noted the Center on January 3.

Freshman Atisha Patel was quoted in a story in The Philadelphia Inquirer on December 23, 2005 about the benefits of enrolling in college courses while still in high school.

Student Anthony Casola appeared on CN8 on December 21 and 22, 2005 to comment on crime on Penn's campus.

Drexel was noted among the best universities in Pennsylvania for female athletes on a KYW-AM (1060) report on December 21, 2005.

A story about African American clothing featuring icons such as Martin Luther King Jr. continues to be syndicated. Dr. Kali Gross, assistant professor of history and director of Africana studies, was quoted in the story, which was published in The Chicago Tribune on December 21, 2005 and The News-Sentinel (Fort Wayne, Ind.) on December 12.

The University was noted in an Associated Press story on December 20, 2005 about its initiative to distribute iPods. The story was published on the Web sites of Philly.com, DetNews.com, SiliconValley.com, WWAY-TV (ABC-Wilmington, N.C.), WFMY-TV (CBS-Greensboro, N.C.) and WVEC-TV (ABC-Norfolk, Va.) and in the San Jose Mercury News (Calif.), South Bend Tribune (Ind.), Centre Daily Times (State College, Pa.), Myrtle Beach Sun News (S.C.) and The Herald (Monterey, Calif.), among other news media.

The University's annual holiday toy drive was featured on WPVI-TV (ABC-6) on December 21, 2005, WCAU-TV (NBC-10), KYW-TV (CBS-3) and CN8 on December 20, WCAU-TV and WPVI-TV (ABC-6) on December 15 and CN8 on December 14.

The Drexel campus was featured during a weather forecast on WCAU-TV (NBC-10) on December 20, 2005.

Sam Cohen, adjunct associate professor in the Goodwin College of Professional Studies, was quoted in Courier-Post (Cherry Hill, N.J.) story on December 19, 2005 about the possible relocation of a restaurant in Cinnaminson, N.J.

Dr. Howard Eisen, professor of cardiology, was noted in The Philadelphia Inquirer on December 19, 2005 for his role as coprincipal investigator of a study that shows that a blood test may detect whether a heart transplant patient is rejecting the new organ. A story was also published on Pharma-Lexicon.com.

C.R. "Chuck" Pennoni, '63, '66, Hon. '92, was featured in a story on the Innovation Philadelphia Web site on December 14, 2005 about being named Drexel's 52nd Business Leader of the Year.

Dr. Itzhak Fischer, professor and chair of anatomy control, was quoted in a Tri County Record story on December 13, 2005 about a stem cell transplant.

Dr. Joseph Wartman, assistant professor in the Department of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, was quoted in a story on the Newhouse News Service Web site on December 12, 2005 about Hurricane Katrina.

Dr. Steve Platek, assistant professor of psychology, was quoted in a New York Times story on December 11, 2005 about why yawning is contagious.

The School of Public Health was noted in a story in The Mercury (Pottstown, Pa.) on December 11, 2005 about a study of the health of Montgomery County children from birth to when they turn 21 years old. The School will help design the protocols for the study.

Carl "Tobey" Oxholm III, senior vice president of the Drexel Law Center, was noted in a Philadelphia Business Journal story on December 9, 2005 about the creation of a judicial pro bono committee in Philadelphia. Mr. Oxholm represents the Philadelphia Bar Association on the committee.
