Register Online for Family Weekend
The Division of Student Life invites students and their families to join us for Family Weekend 2005! Spend the weekend with your family in Philadelphia, attend social and cultural events on campus, cheer on the men’s basketball team, tour the historic sites of Old City, or visit the National Constitution Center. For the full schedule of events, visit http://www.drexel.edu/studentlife/familyweekend.
There is a $25 registration fee for the first family member to attend Family Weekend 2005 and $5 for each additional family member. (Drexel students do not pay a registration fee.) This fee includes registration processing, a Welcome Brunch, a parking pass for the Drexel garage, afternoon activities, evening entertainment, use of the Daskalakis Athletic Center and Independence Blue Cross Wellness Center and admittance to the men’s basketball game.

If you register online you can pay by credit card or you may use US Mail by making checks payable to Drexel University and sending the registration fee and the completed registration form available on the Family Weekend Web site to Family Weekend 2005, Office of the Dean of Students, 215 Creese Student Center, 3141 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104

University Kicks Off for South Asia Relief Effort
The University is coordinating a campus effort to raise funds for victims of the South Asia earthquake and tsunami. Donations will be channeled to UNICEF, the American Red Cross and CARE.
Collection jars will be
available at the locations listed below. Donations contributed through the jars
will be divided equally among the three organizations.

Freshman Design Students Exhibit Work in Nesbitt Hall
The work of College of Media
Arts & Design freshmen Design I students will be exhibited in the Nesbitt
Hall lobby (33rd and Market Streets) through the first week of February.
The exhibition's opening reception will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2005 from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Nesbitt Lobby. The event is open to students, faculty and staff and includes complimentary refreshments. The reception will also celebrate CoMAD Professor Bruce Pollock's Painting I and II student work exhibition currently on display in the Hagerty Library (33rd and Market Streets).

Computer-Aided Tissue Engineering
to Be Reviewed at MSE Seminar
Dr. Wei Sun (above), assistant professor of mechanical engineering
and mechanics, will speak on "Computer-Aided Tissue Engineering: A Recent
Review" at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2005, in the Hill Seminar Room,

Psychiatry Grand Rounds on Alcohol and Intimate Partner Violence
The Drexel University College of Medicine's department of psychiatry will hold
the grand rounds session "Meprobamate: Tranquilizer or Anxiolytic? A Historical
Perspective" on Thursday, January 13, 2005 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Friends
Hospital's Scattergood Auditorium (4641 Roosevelt Boulevard). Dr. Dilip
Ramchandani, professor of psychiatry, will be the guest speaker.

Winter Resource Fair Continues
To meet the billing and financial aid needs of new and returning students, the
University is hosting the Winter Drexel Resource Fair, where students' questions
can be addressed directly by representatives from the Financial Aid Office,
Student Resource Center and Bursar's Office.
The Winter Resource Fair will be held on the University City Main Campus (for quarter-based programs) in the Main Building Great Court (32nd and Chestnut Streets) today, January 7, 2005 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Winter Resource Fair will be held on the Center City Hahnemann Campus (for semester-based programs) in the New College Building Geary Auditorium (15th and Vine Streets) on Monday, January 10 from 2-7 p.m., and Tuesday, January 11 through Wednesday, January 12 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Submissions to the Digest can be emailed to mailreq@drexel.edu
no later than noon at least 24 hours before the event occurs. Submissions must
include a brief explanation of the event, as well as a contact name and phone
number or email address. Please note that submissions must include the approval
of the Vice President who oversees your department or, for academic events,
the approval of the Provost.
