Frequently Asked Questions

UNIV 101:

Q: What is UNIV 101?

A: University 101: The Drexel Experience (UNIV 101) is a first-year orientation course that welcomes new students to Drexel University and the City of Philadelphia. Students learn tips for college success and are introduced to an urban lifestyle.

Q: Do all students have to take UNIV 101?

A: All First-Year students are required to complete the UNIV 101 course designated by each college/school - depending on your major. The only exceptions to this requirement are transfer students.

Q: Why does the UNIV 101 course differ by college/school?

A: Each UNIV 101 class orients first-year students to their chosen major within each college or school at Drexel. Because there are 12 different colleges/schools, each UNIV 101 class slightly differs from the others. However, there are several common components of each course: The Civic Engagement requirement, Cultural Passport, guest speakers, and various topics of student interest.

Q: If there's a problem with a UNIV 101 grade, who does the student contact?

A: Occasionally, students will receive an Incomplete (INC) as a grade for UNIV 101 if a required component is not completed by the end of the term. Students need to contact their UNIV 101 Instructor directly to change a grade. Only the class Instructor is permitted to change a grade.
