Tips for Transfers
Choose the School That's Right for You
As a prospective transfer student, you know better than most that it's important to find a school that meets your needs academically and socially. Are you looking for an academically rigorous and fast-paced environment? Is a city school right for you? Will you like the food in the cafeteria? These are all things you should consider before you apply for transfer admission.
The best way to learn more is to schedule a campus visit and see for yourself.
Transferring Your Credits
Once you've been accepted to Drexel, your next concern will be to see where you stand academically. At Drexel, transfer credit is evaluated by an academic advisor from the department to which you've been accepted. Generally, Drexel will transfer up to 60 semester-credits with a grade of C or higher. Drexel's academic year operates on a quarterly basis while most schools are organized by semester – this will affect your transfer credits. 60 semester credits equal approximately 90 quarter credits. You may also be eligible to receive credit by examination.
If you know in advance that you plan to transfer to Drexel, you can maximize your transfer credits by following a plan of study available at www.collegetransfer.net. For your intended major's course requirements, see the Drexel University Online Catalog.
It's important to be aware of your program's requirements and prerequisites. Your academic advisor is one of your best resources to ensure a smooth academic career.
Make It Your Own
When you arrive on campus, remember: you're not just a transfer student, you're a Drexel student.
