2012 Drexel Fashion Show

Every year Drexel seniors and graduate students from Westphal College of Media Arts & Design's nationally recognized Fashion Design and Merchandising programs spend seven industrious months researching, designing, creating, and perfecting their collections. This summer, these 32 seniors and graduate students had the opportunity to present their collections at the annual Drexel Fashion Show, hosted at the Urban Outfitters Corporate Headquarters. The students were involved in all aspects of the presentation, from last-minute fittings to choosing the music for their runway walk.

The collections, featuring styles in children's wear, women's wear, men's wear, sportswear, swimwear, evening wear, and lingerie, were inspired by a range of history and culture including Marilyn Monroe, medieval armor, steampunk, surfing and diving, and the Venice Carnival.

Students were judged on technique, design, saleability, and overall excellence, as well as in categories such as handcraft and historic costume. Collections and individual designs were eligible for awards from Neiman Marcus, Abercrombie & Fitch, Stores at King of Prussia, Destination Maternity, Joan Shepp, and Dick Blick among others. Judging the show were representatives of brands including Neiman Marcus, Burberry, Agostino, Destination Maternity, Nicole Miller, and designer Jaeyoon Jeong.
