SEPTA Strike

Drexel Transportation Services Contingency Plans

SEPTA Service interruption is in effect as of Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 3:00 a.m. SEPTA's Bus, Subway, and Trolley routes are discontinued. SEPTA Regional Rail, SEPTA Suburban Division, PATCO, New Jersey Transit, and AMTRAK will not be directly affected.

All employees and students who use public transportation should allow sufficient time for the delays they are likely to encounter.

Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania are operating shuttles to and from key transportation points in Center City. The shuttle service will operate during the morning and evening peak travel hours to 16th and Locust Streets (for PATCO and 69th Street for SEPTA Suburban Division).

Drexel and Penn community members may use either university bus service by showing their respective university ID cards. Please refer to the schedules for times and locations. Drexel University is operating bus services from the University City Main Campus outbound to 69th and Market Streets and returning inbound to 33rd and Chestnut Streets.

Drexel University and Drexel University College of Medicine bus services are operating on their normal schedules and Public Safety will continue to provide emergency medical transportation in accordance with current policy. Bus Services

Drexel and Penn buses will pick up passengers in the morning from the PATCO Station at 16th and Locust Streets and on Market Street across from the 69th Street Terminal.

During afternoon and evening hours, buses will pick up passengers at Northeast corner of 33rd and Walnut Streets.

The following schedules will be followed as closely as possible, however, please note that there will be increased traffic due to the strike that may cause delays.

“D” indicates Drexel University buses; “P” indicates University of Pennsylvania buses.

Walnut and Chestnut Streets Drexel Bus Services:

Drexel University is providing a continuous loop of bus service from 33rd and Market Streets (Southwest Corner) next to Haggerty Library to 69th and Market Streets. Return trip is operating east from Chestnut to 33rd Streets. The service will pick up and drop off in designated bus zones along the route.

5:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
2:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.

LUCY (Loop through University City ):

LUCY is continuing normal service. These shuttles loop through University City serving 30th Street Station, Drexel University, University of Pennsylvania, University City Science Center, University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Presbyterian Medical Center, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Children's Seashore House, and VA Medical Center. LUCY runs Monday through Friday from 6:10 am to 7:00 pm. Drexel University students and staff are required to have prepaid fare or pay the SEPTA fare of $2.00.

Drexel Parking Services:

All university members are encouraged to use car pools and alternate transportation when possible. Parking Services has prorated term permit parking available for the University City Main Campus and Queen Lane Medical Campus. Daily parking is also available at the Drexel Garage located at 34th and Market Streets is $14/per day. For more information visit the Parking Services website.

University of Pennsylvania buses will operate on their regular schedules and routes starting
