Drexel Green Grants 2012

Two Legendary Pasts, One Sustainable Future

Congratulations to our 2012 Green Grants Winners! View a PDF summary of this year's best ideas.

The Drexel Green Grants is part of Drexel Business Services’ initiative to encourage the development of environmentally aware practices and creative thinking with regard to sustainability issues.

In 2011, Drexel University officially announced its partnership with the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. It is in this historic affiliation between the Academy and Drexel that will promote discovery, learning, and civic engagement in the natural and environmental sciences and further enhance Philadelphia’s reputation as a leader in scientific research and education.

What are your ideas for how the partnership between Drexel University and the Academy of Natural Sciences can further sustainability? Ideas may include exhibits, academics, programs, activities, research, collaboration and anything else that you can imagine happening!

Current students, faculty, professional staff and alumni are encouraged to complete the Go Green! Environmental Responsibility Pledge and submit an essay (500 words max) on what they envision for the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. Pledges must be signed and essays submitted online by Monday, May 14, 2012.

Green Grant Additional Guidelines for Student Applicants

The Drexel Green Grant awarded to students will be applied successively to: tuition, fees, room and dining plans and the University Bookstore. The award is not refundable and cannot be awarded in any other form.

Student applicants should still file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the posted deadlines to be eligible for other financial assistance, the amount of this award will become part of his/her total financial aid package. Notification of other financial assistance will be separate from notification of the Drexel Green Grant.

A Drexel Green Grant will become part of the total financial aid package. Although this award does not require financial need, full-scholarship award recipients are not eligible for the Green Grant.

Graduating seniors are not eligible for the Green Grant as the funds apply to the following year.

To comply with federal financial aid regulation, the total amount of all financial aid sources including a Drexel Green Grant cannot exceed the total cost of attendance as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.
