Pre-Departure & Flights
Pre-Departure Handbook
The Study Abroad Pre-departure Guide gives tips on what to pack, how to prepare, and general tips to living abroad. This is not an all inclusive or country specific guide to living abroad. For a more detailed perspective of life in your host country, such as cultural behaviors, daily life, safety, cost of living, we recommend reading "Let's Go" and other travel guides.
Dragons Abroad Student Journals
Written firsthand by Drexel students abroad, these journals are a wonderful resource in preparing for life in a particular city or country. The Dragons Abroad journals help students understand what to expect culturally, academically, and experientially on their chosen program.
Flights
Students are responsible for purchasing their own airline ticket to and from their study abroad destination. It is critical to arrive on the official arrival date of your program. If you cannot arrive on that date, you must inform the Study Abroad Office immediately in writing explaining why you cannot arrive on the designated date.
Group flights will be arranged for only a few programs. Either way, we advise students to purchase a fully-refundable ticket, as the Office of Study Abroad will not reimburse you for tickets should a program be cancelled or should the dates of a program be changed.
Arrival
Students should be aware of how to transport from the airport to their apartment or dormitory. Some group flights will offer airport pick-up. If not, students should explore the other options for getting to the dorm: airport shuttle, taxi, or public transportation.
