Study Abroad Opportunities for Summer Vacation and Fall Break

The Study Abroad Office has developed new short-term experiences for students with summer vacation and those who wish to go abroad without missing a term at Drexel! Our Sophomore EDGE programs in China are geared towards those with summer off while our "Fall Break In" opportunities in Japan , Guatemala, and Spain are great for any students wishing to study abroad before Fall term! Freshman Frontiers for Fall 2013

Incoming Freshman applicants will have the unique opportunity spend their first term at Drexel in Dublin, Ireland! Students will get a chance to explore the country's rich culture while receiving a full term of credits towards their degree. Please go to the admissions website to find out how to apply.

Freeman Asia Grant for students completing Co-op in Asia

Students interested in completing a co-op in Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand or Vietnam are eligible to receive up to $6,000 in funding from the Freeman Foundation. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and be matriculated as a full time student at Drexel. This is a great opportunity to enhance your study abroad experience with an overseas work experience! US Department of State Internship Opportunities

The U.S. Department of State will continue to offer both paid internships under the Pathways Internship Program, as well as unpaid opportunities under the U.S. Department of State Student Experience Program (formerly known as Summer, Fall and Spring Internships). The Pathways Internships are Civil Service opportunities located mostly in Washington, D.C., while the U.S. Department of State Student Experience Program provides the opportunity to work in U.S. Embassies throughout the world, as well as in various bureaus located in Washington, D.C. This program is designed to provide substantive experiences in a foreign affairs environment. For those interested in specific Student Programs, more information will be available over the next few months at the website www.usajobs.gov/studentsandgrads/. Please register at the website under Keep Me Informed to receive automatic notifications about the changes to these programs, notifications on job openings or other career related information from the Department of State.

New Scholarship for Biomedical Engineering Undergraduates

The Whitaker International Program recently established a new undergraduate grant for biomedical engineering and bioengineering students studying abroad. Up to $7,500 will be awarded to students participating in semester-long programs and $10,000 for year-long studies. This new undergraduate program was created with the goal of increasing the number of biomedical engineers studying abroad. Students who apply must demonstrate a financial need for support to participate in study abroad. Priority will be given to those who study in non-traditional locations.

Study Abroad Scholarships

The Study Abroad Office is thrilled to announce the first ever Drexel Study Abroad Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to several Drexel study abroad students each term. Winners will be selected based on criteria such as financial need, campus involvement, program duration, and location. Details and scholarship requirements will be accessible via students’ online application system. Students applying for summer and fall 2011 programs are welcome to apply!
