Drexel Family Association

The Drexel Family Association (DFA) is an organization that provides information and support to family members of current Drexel students. The Association offers families a special connection with one another and encourages participation in the Drexel University community.

Membership is free and includes opportunities to get involved with the following committees and events. Click here to indicate your interest in the volunteer opportunities listed below.

Dean’s Advisory Council

The Drexel Advisory Council serves as an advisory council to the Dean of Students. The Dean utilizes this group to gain a family member’s perspective on a variety of campus issues. Meetings include lunch and are held in the Creese Student Center, Suite 215 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on the Sunday preceding the winter, spring, and fall academic terms.

Enrollment Management Events
The DFA hosts tables during Accepted Students Days to provide a current family member’s perspective to prospective students and families. Tables are staffed in the Drexel Recreation Center between 12:30 – 2:00 PM on the following dates:

  • Saturday, April 14, 2012
  • Sunday, April 15, 2012
  • Saturday, April 21, 2012
  • Sunday, April 22, 2012

New Student Orientation Dean’s Dessert Receptions
The DFA hosts a dessert reception for family members of incoming students for current family members to casually interact and answer questions from new family members. Receptions are held in the Intercultural Center between 6:30 – 8:00 PM on the following dates:

Family Weekend Town Hall Meeting
Saturday, November 3, 2012, time and location to be announced in September
The DFA hosts a Town Hall Meeting for family members of current Drexel students to speak about their experiences interacting with Drexel University administrators, faculty, staff, and students. This is an opportunity for family members to gain perspective about other family members’ experiences and receive advice from those who may have had similar issues.

Drexel NOW Family Newsletter Contributor
Write about your experience, submit a picture, ask a question, or share a resource that has been helpful to you. We are always looking for new things to publish in our monthly e-newsletter. Contributions are due before the first Friday of every month, with publication approximately the 15th day of every month.

The Family Program at New Student Orientation

While family members are welcome to attend all Orientation sessions, family-specific sessions are only available during Summer Orientation. Please visit the New Student Orientation website for detailed information.

Family Weekend

November 2 – 4, 2012

Family Weekend is open to all family members of current Drexel University students.

The first weekend in November is Family Weekend. The Drexel University community welcomes family members of all ages to campus to participate in a variety of activities, tours, and receptions that allow you the opportunity to reconnect with your student while enjoying the beautiful fall weather in Philadelphia. Family members are encouraged to take advantage of your time in the City of Brotherly Love to experience what life is like on campus.

Drexel NOW Family Newsletter
The Drexel NOW Family Newsletter is published in collaboration with the Office of University Communications and is emailed to family members of current Drexel students on approximately the 15th day of every month.
