What DASP Provides

Peer mentoring

DASP mentors are students at Drexel who are trained in helping participants develop the skills needed to achieve their goals across four domains: personal, social, academic, and professional. Each mentor is paired with a single DASP participant to offer support for 1-4 hours per week. Many mentors have experience with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) through a family member, friend, prior employment, or coursework. DASP mentors are committed to helping students grow and succeed as part of a community of learners at Drexel.


DASP workshops help participants develop skills needed to successfully navigate the university environment through increased awareness of the situations, expectations, and opportunities they will encounter. Topics include but are not limited to: learning strategies, self-advocacy, networking, leadership development, and making the transition to life after Drexel. Students are encouraged to attend these interactive workshops with their assigned peer mentor.


DASP events promote academic community, allowing participants to connect more socially with their peer mentor and each other. Events include but are not limited to: game nights, movie nights, and study jams.

What DASP Doesn't Provide

  • DASP does not provide diagnosis, psychotherapy, or accommodations.
  • DASP does not provide students with alternative pathways to Drexel admissions.
  • DASP does not provide mediation or advocacy.
  • DASP does not communicate with administration or faculty on behalf of any student.
  • DASP does not guarantee students' academic performance or persistence at Drexel University.

Note on Accommodation

Students interested in receiving accommodations under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) must register with the Office of Disability Resources (ODR) at Drexel.
