Plan a Retreat

An essential step in becoming a successful student organization is to have all your members working together as a team. One of the best ways to get to know one another better and to work together in a fluid manner is through retreats. Retreats give groups a chance to open up, share ideas and plan for the upcoming year.

• Set goals for your retreat.

• Set a date or dates for your retreat.

• Pick a location and arrange for transportation how to get to the retreat (keep in mind that an advisor must accompany your student organization retreat if it is at an off-campus location).

• Stop by the Office of Campus Activities to get assistance in planning activities to help you reach your goals for the retreat.

• Make arrangements for food and snacks to keep your group happy.

• Develop a list of icebreakers and team building exercises to utilize throughout the day to energize the group and to get to know everyone better.
