The Selection process will be held toward the end of the month of August, and Leadership Assistant (LA) Training will be held during September 2007.
Job Description
The Leadership Assistant (LA) is an experience Drexel student who is a para-professional member of the Campus Activities staff within the Division of Student Life. The Leadership Assistant's supervisor is the Associate Director of Campus Activities. As a staff member of the Division of Student Life, the Leadership Assistant has the responsibility of implementing division wide programs and activities. The Leadership Assistants work as a team with the Office of Campus Activities to provide educational and leadership development for the Drexel University student body.
Qualifications:
- Currently and actively enrolled during terms of employment
- Maintain a 2.5 minimum cumulative grade point average
- Previously CEO Certified students may be considered first
- Ability to commit to 5+ hours per week
- Ability to work in groups and independently, carry projects through to completion, and have good interpersonal skills
- Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills are beneficial
- Available to work some nights
- No standing judicial sanction that extends through the dates of appointment
Compensation:
- Students with Work-Study monies are eligible to get paid with these funds as a Leadership Assistant.
- These students can work between 5-20 hours/week at an hourly rate between $7.15 - $7.50.
- A few positions are available for student without work-study monies. These students receive an hourly stipend of $7.50 for up to 50 hours per Term.
General Responsibilities:
Collectively, the Leadership Assistants will
- Support initiatives from the Office of Campus Activities that impact student life
- Help bring together students and organizations to talk about their leadership issues and experiences.
- Advise and consult with students and organizations on leadership and the effectiveness of their organization
- Provide workshops and guides to students and organizations on a variety of topics.
- Acknowledge and promote students who are exceptional leaders.
- Assist the Office of Campus Activities create leadership training materials and tip sheets
- Support and promote the CEO and CEO II Program’s leadership initiatives
- Promote leadership opportunities to the Drexel student body
- Assist with the maintenance of the leadership website and other marketing opportunities
- Coordinate Leadership evaluations and surveys
- Provide database management
- Research leadership initiatives and resources for the website and accessing electronically
- Organize special events such as ‘leadership ropes courses’
- Assist with large-scale events such as the Drexel Student Leadership Conference
- Other duties as assigned
