Responding to a Charge Letter

If you receive a charge letter, you should:

  • Schedule an appointment with the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards before the deadline
  • Meet with the University Conduct Officer or designee
  • If you are on Co-op or have a problem meeting the deadline, call immediately
  • Don't ignore the letter, it won't just go away
  • Failing to respond may result in a Conduct Board decision without your participation

At Your Meeting With the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards

At this meeting, the Pre-Hearing Conference, you will:

  • Have the disciplinary process explained
  • Have the charges explained
  • Be given the opportunity to respond to the charges

You may choose not to contest the charges, and sign form waiving the right to a hearing. In these cases the University Conduct Officer or designee will adjudicate the case and impose an appropriate sanction(s).
