Daily Schedule

Before You Arrive
It is important to review the Prepare Now page for more information on what to bring and what you'll need to do to prepare for a successful orientation and a smooth transition to university life at Drexel.

When You Arrive
FREE parking is available in the Drexel Parking Garage to all students and families attending new student orientation. The Drexel Garage is located at 34th & Ludlow Streets. Drexel Shuttles will provide transportation from the garage to Caneris Residence Hall for orientation registration and check-in.

Student Schedule

Day One - Student Life

  • Check in anytime between 8am and 9am at Caneris Hall
  • Meet with Orientation Leaders
  • Begin your Orientation experience at the University Welcome, followed by a presentation by key University officers
  • Information sessions with important information about Drexel University
  • Enjoy a casual lunch with other new students
  • Discover important resources essential to helping you get a good start
  • After dinner, join in on an interactive evening program
  • Enjoy evening entertainment and stay overnight in Towers Hall

Overnight Stay
All students are expected to stay overnight in Towers Hall during Orientation. This is a great way to experience campus life and meet other new students.

Day Two - Academics and Experiential Learning

  • Wake up bright and early for breakfast on your second day of Orientation
  • Welcome from Provost (chief academic officer) and staff
  • Meet your academic advisor!
  • College/school staff will present the need-to-knows
  • Exciting breakout sessions on:
    • Drexel 2.0 - technology at Drexel and best practices for the web
    • There's No Op like Co-op - an exciting look at the opportunities surrounding co-op
    • Healthy Living and Learning - creating a balance between class, extracurricular activities and college life
    • It's Business Time - being a professional student (time management, responsibilities, professional communication)
    • Philadelphia as a Learning Laboratory - get the scoop on the rich cultural and engaging activities in the City of Brotherly Love

Parent/Family Schedule

Families play a vital role as new students adjust to university life. Because this time can be both exciting and challenging for the entire family, we offer separate sessions for parents and families in conjunction with New Student Orientation.

√ Sign Up
Be sure that your student registers you when he/she signs up to attend Orientation. The program costs $75 for the first family member and $55 for each additional family member. This fee includes meals and refreshments, 1 1/2 days of workshops, and helpful materials. Pre-registration is required. Contact the Office of New Student and Family Programs, 215.895.2506, for additional information, or go to www.drexel.edu/studentlife/nso.

√ Your Day
Parent/Guardian Orientation starts with check-in followed by the University Welcome. You and your student will attend some program sessions together, there are some sessions that are separate.

√ Evening Program
At the end of your day, you may choose to attend the evening activities for families while your student is busy having fun with other students.

√ Day Two - Academics and Experiential Learning
Parents and families will have the opportunity to attend a number of the day's activities with their students. There will also be select parent-only sessions covering FERPA, co-op and more. Please view the student schedule above for an idea of what to look forward to on day two.

Early Arrivals

If You Arrive Early
Early Arrivals arriving the night before their scheduled check-in are to report to the Caneris Residence Hall front desk for families, and Towers Residence Hall for students. There, you will receive instructions about where to park for the evening and suggested places to eat. On Day One of your orientation, registration and check-in will occur in the Caneris Residence Hall. For exact location, click here.

When You Arrive
FREE parking is available for students and families arriving early in the W Parking Lot. The parking lot is located at 33rd and Cherry Streets.

Freshman Program
Registration and check-in for freshman students and their families will take place in Caneris Residence Hall beginning at 8am. If you will be staying in a residence hall, please arrive no later than 8:30am to allow sufficient time for check-in. You will be directed to your residence hall after you check-in. If you are not staying in a residence hall you will be directed to the Creese Student Center. Students will take their luggage to their residence hall and go to Creese Student Center for breakfast.

Transfer Program
Orientation check-in and registration for the transfer student session will take place in the Creese Student Center, located at 32nd and Chestnut Streets. Buses will be available at the garage to transport you to the Creese Student Center, or, if you choose, it is just a short walk from the garage to the student center.
