Description:A cash award will be awarded to three full-time, matriculated minority (African-American, Asian American, Latino American, or Native American) students: in the College of Nursing and Health Professions and the School of Public Health. Students will submit an application to compete for these awards.
Amount of Awards:
A total of $1,500.00 will be divided into three $500.00 cash awards.
Criteria for Eligibility:
Be a full-time matriculated African-American, Asian American, Latino American or Native American student (12 credits in current semester)
Demonstrate good academic standing by achieving a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or equivalent.
Must submit documentation of service to the University and/ or the community during current academic year (only non-clinical related service is acceptable). Service must be verified with a letter from service supervisor.
Submit an application and an essay stating why he/she deserves to receive this award (no more than two pages typed, double-spaced)
Submit two letters of recommendation: (one from a faculty member or administrator who could comment on the student's academic performance, and one from a professional who could comment on the student's character).
Selection Process:Applications will be reviewed by the Assistant Dean for Multicultural Programs and Special Projects and two other administrators or faculty members. The Dean of Students will make the final selection. Awards will be presented at a formal presentation event at the end of the spring 2006 semester.
