Veterans And Drexel

Your Favorite Vet!

The Veterans Task Force at Drexel invites you to participate in a tribute leading up to Veterans Day on 11/11/11. Please send a photograph of your "FAVORITE VET" for Display in the Creese Case at the entrance to the Café! This display will also serve as an invitation to celebrate the opening and dedication of Drexel University's Veterans Lounge on November 11, 2011. If you want to participate, please contact Rebecca L. Weidensaul, Associate Dean of Students via email at rebecca@drexel.edu. All entries must be received by October 29th. Please include (1) photo, (2) your name and Drexel affiliation (student, faculty, staff/title and department etc.) and (3) the name of your veteran – your relationship to them, what branch they served in and a brief sentence or two letting us know why you choose them to remember on Veterans Day.

Veterans Day

Come and celebrate the opening and dedication of Drexel University's Veterans Lounge on November 11, 2011.

Time: 4:00 pm
Location: The Armory - Main Drill Floor

We choose Veterans Day for this special opening and dedication as a way to salute our nation's veterans and celebrate the institutions commitment to today's student-veterans. The program will include ceremony, ribbon cutting, reception and lounge visitation. This dedicated space was made possible through a generous alumni gift and will enable the Drexel Veterans Association and student-veterans to study, network and host programs and events.

The Drexel community is welcomed and the Drexel ROTC cadets will be giving Commemorative 11-11-11 Dragon Dog Tags to all attendees.

DU Remembers…Will You?

Please join The Veterans Task Force at Drexel University in showing support for our United States service men and women who are students, faculty and professional staff. The Task Force has launched the “DU Remembers…Will You?” campaign this month with a special Memorial Day Celebration on campus. In months to follow, there will be additional events that focus on service and veterans at Drexel.

In the meantime, show your support by wearing one of the “DU Remembers…Will You?” wristbands OR wear red, white and/or blue on Fridays. We suggest that you take time to learn more about friends, family and campus members who have served…ask the questions and discover their stories. Wearing the wristband may spark conversation and contribute to a culture of respect and support for our soldiers on campus and in our lives.
