SEVIS Transfer Information
You are a "SEVIS transfer student" if you meet any of the following criteria and have maintained your status:
- You are currently in the United States and studying at a U.S. institution and will transfer to Drexel University.
- You have completed a program at a U.S. institution and will begin a new academic program at Drexel University.
- You have completed a program and are currently pursuing OPT in the United States and will start a new academic program at Drexel University.
When you have confirmed your acceptance with Drexel University, you must ask your International Student Advisor to complete the Transfer Report form in order to release your SEVIS record to Drexel University.
A transfer of a student's SEVIS record from one institution to another allows a student to keep his or her unique ID number, and maintaining this number for the duration of your stay in the U.S. is critical for maintaining legal status.
When your record has been released to Drexel in SEVIS, our office will automatically be notified electronically. We will then be able to issue your Drexel I-20 or DS-2019. Please note you must check in at the ISSS office upon arrival to Drexel University and make sure that all necessary paperwork is turned in within the first 15 days of the term so that ISSS can complete your SEVIS transfer.
