Application

The first stage of the selection process is filling out the RA Application online.  The application contains basic information about you, your experience at Drexel, how to contact you, and when you are available for the Resident Assistant Application Process (RAAP) classes.

RA Application

NOTE: The above link will go live on December 3, 2012 (Week 11).

Information Session
In order for your application to be complete, you must attend one of the mandatory information sessions during Week 2 in January.  Indicate which information sessions you are available to attend on your online RA Application.  Information session assignments will be distributed to applicants on January 11, 2013 (Week 1) via email.

Resident Assistant Application Process (RAAP) Class
The Resident Assistant Application Process (RAAP) class is a two-session course designed to teach you what we value in the RA position.  It is also an opportunity for us to get to know you better.  The class is designed to be interactive and educational.  The RA job is primarily relational - the RAAP class is designed for you to show us how you function in relationship to others.

Attendance at both classes is MANDATORY.  If you miss a class, you are no longer eligible for application.

RAAP class assignments will be distributed on January 21, 2013 (Week 3) via email.  Please be sure your availability is up-to-date on your application.  If you need to change any information after submitting your application, please e-mail RASelection@drexel.edu.

The first week of class is week 4 of the winter term, and the second class is week 6.

RAAP Essay Assignment: Due RAAP Class 1
Please answer the following question in an essay to be printed out and turned in during RAAP Class 1 (12-point font, double spaced, Times New Roman):

Utilizing the Resident Assistant Core Competencies, please provide examples of how you have incorporated these skills in your academic and personal experiences this far, and reflect on which areas you wish to improve upon.

Contact Meetings
The Contact Meeting is a time for you to meet with one of your RAAP class instructors.  Your contact meeting will occur in the week between your two RAAP classes.  This is not your interview!

Interviews
After the RAAP classes and Contact Meeting, a group of candidates will be passed on to the interview phase of the selection process.  Interview invitations will be distributed on March 1, 2013 (Week 8).

During the interview, you will meet with Residential Living staff members to discuss your interest in the position.  The interviews will occur March 4-5, 2013 (Week 9).

Selection
Letters will be sent to all applicants indicating if they are being offered a position for the 2013-2014 application year on March 22, 2013 (Finals Week) via email.

Applicants will receive one of three emails:

The alternate pool is a group of candidates that will be considered for RA positions that come open throughout the summer and the academic year.
No Position Offer- This letter states that we are unable to offer you an RA position.
