The Drexel University Strategic Plan was created through a year-long collaborative process that brought together several hundred members of the Drexel community, representing stakeholder groups from faculty to professional staff to students to trustees, alumni and friends. The strategic planning team was fundamentally committed to a planning process that was transparent, engaging and collaborative.

In Phase I, launched in early 2011, five separate strategic planning task forces gathered over six weeks to focus on Quality of Life for Students, Professional Staff and Faculty; Drexel’s Scale; Academic Quality and Innovation; Community Partnerships; and Research. More than 60 faculty, professional staff, and students were engaged in these Task Forces, with a level of informed participation that had never been achieved previously at Drexel.

In Phase II, task forces sharpened Drexel’s vision, created an agenda for action, determined estimated costs and identified modes of assessment for measurable outcomes.

Ultimately the task force’s recommendations informed a Strategic Plan document, as well as detailed action plans. The final plan was approved by Drexel’s trustees in May 2012 and shared with the Drexel community shortly afterwards.
