Graduation Requirements

The following conditions must be met in order for a student to be considered a degree candidate.

  1. An Application for Degree form must be filed with the Student Administrative Services Center by the deadline for the term in which the student intends to graduate.
  2. Completion of the specific coursework requirements for the program or major in which the student is enrolled.
  3. Achievement of a cumulative grade point average of (for undergraduate students) 2.0 or (for graduate students) 3.0 or higher for all coursework undertaken at Drexel Univeristy.
  4. A student must be matriculated in his or her college during the last term in which they complete their requirements.
  5. All grades for required courses must be submitted to the Student Administrative Services Center. No student will be approved for a degree while an unreported grade for any course remains on the record.
  6. All financial obligations to the university must be met.
  7. Completion of the required number of co-operative credits for the program or major in which the student is enrolled. This pertains to full-time undergraduates only.
  8. At least one-half of the professional courses required for a student's specific program or major must be completed at Drexel. A minimum of 45 credits must be completed at Drexel. The senior year must be spent at Drexel unless the requirement is waived by the academic dean of the college in which the student is enrolled. This pertains to full-time undergraduates only.
  9. Masters students must receive final approval for graduation from the department representative.
  10. Doctoral students must receive final approval for graduation from the Graduate Studies Office.

If for any reason a student does NOT meet all requirements for graduation two days prior to commencement, that student cannot graduate until the term in which all the requirements are met.

If a student completes all requirements for graduation in any term prior to Spring term, the degree will be awarded in the term in which all the requirements are met. Any student who graduates in the term prior to Spring after a commencement ceremony can participate in the next graduation ceremony.
