Graduate Fellowships and Grants
Fellowships and grants are types of gift aid that do not have to be repaid. Certain requirements and restrictions apply to each type of award. Students with full tuition provided by Drexel funds, including Drexel tuition remission and assistantships, are not eligible for additional institutional awards.
The following funding opportunities are available to students in designated University City Campus and Center City Campus programs only. They are not available to College of Law or College of Medicine students. If you are interested in funding for the College of Law, please visit the College of Law website for more information.
College-specific aid for graduate students may be available depending upon the program you have been admitted to. These college-specific awards cannot be combined with other institutional graduate awards.
For more details about requirements and restrictions, please view the terms for Drexel's graduate financial aid programs.
Online graduate students should visit Drexel University Online or call 1-877-215-0009 to confirm eligibility of Drexel University Online discounts.
Drexel Dean's Fellowship
For all on-campus University City Campus students, including the Human Nutrition program, a Drexel Dean's Fellowship is a non-need-based award for full-time graduate students that provides a percentage of the student's tuition each term. Awarded by the University's Graduate Admissions Office, the Dean’s Fellowship is designed to assist outstanding applicants, and as such, the fellowship does not carry any assigned duties. Requirements for the fellowship are as follows:
- Domestic and international applicants are eligible.
- Applicants must be seeking full-time study only at the master's level.
- Applicants may not receive any other form of assistantship or fellowship from Drexel University while they hold a Dean's Fellowship, including the teaching, research, and graduate assistantships; Drexel Grad Grant; and any other college-specific aid.
- Students enrolled in online programs are not eligible for the Dean's Fellowship.
The fellowship is renewable depending on the student's academic performance. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required for continued support. The University will review the academic progress of students receiving the fellowship each term. Students are no longer eligible for the fellowship if their cumulative GPA drops below the required 3.0.
The Office of Graduate Admissions will determine who receives a Dean's Fellowship. Applicants who receive a Dean's Fellowship will be informed by mail, and must complete a contract in order to receive the award.
Drexel Dean's Award
For designated Center City Campus programs, a Drexel Dean's Award is a merit-based award for academic achievement. Requirements for the fellowship are as follows:
- Domestic and international applicants are eligible.
- Applicants must be seeking full-time study only at the master's level.
- Applicants may not receive any other form of assistantship or fellowship from Drexel University while they hold a Dean's Award, including the teaching, research, and graduate assistantships; Drexel Grad Grant; and any other college-specific aid.

Drexel Grad Grant
All graduate applicants who are an undergraduate Drexel alumnus or alumna are eligible to receive a $100.00 per credit tuition grant for their first full year of graduate studies. Applicants must indicate on their admissions application that they previously received an undergraduate degree from Drexel (bachelor of science/bachelor of arts degrees only; RAD Tech and undergraduate certificate level degrees are not qualifying degree programs for this award). This award cannot be combined with any other graduate aid from the University, including Dean’s Fellowships and Awards; teaching, research, and graduate assistantships; and any other college-specific aid. Grad Grant eligibility may not be carried forward to future terms due to periods of inactivity or ineligibility after the first term of enrollment.
Drexel-Kaplan Graduate Degree Advantage Program
Any student who enrolls in a Drexel graduate school program after taking a Kaplan preparation course for the GRE or GMAT will receive tuition credit equal to the amount paid to Kaplan for the preparation course. Students who have participated in Kaplan's private tutoring session in preparation for the GRE or GMAT are eligible to receive a tuition credit of up to $1,200. Students will need to present the original receipts for the Kaplan course or tutoring session to the Graduate Admissions Office prior to enrollment.
Teaching, Research, and Graduate Assistantships
Drexel awards highly qualified students with financial assistance in the form of teaching, research, or graduate assistantships. Students are required to perform specific work assignments within the University in return for the assistance. Both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens are eligible, and must be enrolled as full-time graduate students. Most Drexel graduate programs require the GRE for these positions. Applications must be submitted by January 1 to be considered. Not all programs offer assistantships. Teaching, research, and graduate assistantships cannot be combined with any other graduate aid from the University, including Dean’s Fellowships and Awards, Drexel Grad Grant, and any other college-specific aid.
