New Full-Time Freshman Student Checklist

This handy checklist will help you successfully navigate the enrollment process.

Financial Aid/Billing

  • Complete the FAFSA (U.S. citizens and permanent residents only). If you have not already done so, be sure to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), using Drexel's school code (003256). You should file the FAFSA by March 1.

  • Complete any outstanding financial aid requirements (U.S. citizens and permanent residents only). You can check your status on DrexelOne. New student loans will not be disbursed from the lender to Drexel until the promissory note has been signed and all requirements are completed.

  • Notify Student Resource Center/Financial Aid (SRC/FA) of any changes in your enrollment status. A change in enrollment status could affect your financial aid or merit award. To report changes in your status use AskDrexel.

  • Resolve any questions or issues regarding your bill. Detailed billing information can be found online on the Office of Student Accounts/Bursar website.

Orientation

  • Register for Orientation. U.S. citizens and permanent residents will receive an Orientation packet that contains registration information. International students will receive Orientation information from International Students and Scholars Services (ISSS) with their I-20s.

  • Complete placement tests. Placement examinations are used to assess your academic preparation for critical courses. They enable your academic advisor to build a fall schedule for you and place you into the courses for which you are ready and have the best chance of completing successfully. Depending on your major, you may be required to take an examination electronically in one or more of the following areas: mathematics, English, chemistry, physics, and/or modern languages. U.S. citizens and permanent residents will receive further information in their Orientation packets and international students will receive an email in August with instructions.

  • Get your DragonCard University ID. DragonCard photos are taken during Orientation. If you are unable to attend Orientation, you can have your photo taken at the DragonCard Office located in Room 124 of the Creese Student Center. You must show a valid state-issued ID (driver's license or passport) to have a photo taken. DragonCards will be distributed at move-in (for resident students) and during Commuter Connection Day (for commuter students).

Student Services

  • Comply with Drexel's health insurance and immunization policies. You must provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations and health insurance coverage.

  • Pick up your computer accounts. As a Drexel student, you are entitled to computer accounts, such as email and the DrexelOne portal. Visit the Information Resources and Technology (IRT) New Accounts page to learn more. To pick up your accounts, go to http://accounts.drexel.edu/. You must check DrexelOne regularly for important updates regarding placement tests and your tuition bill.

  • Review Drexel's computer requirements on IRT's Frequent Computer Q & A webpage.

  • Notify Disability Services if you have any physical or learning disabilities. Drexel University is committed to providing equal access to its programs and services to qualified students. Visit the Office of Disability Services website for more information.

  • Attend the Drexel Resource Fair. Get answers to questions regarding billing, financial aid, registration, health insurance, and immunizations during the Resource Fair offered at the start of each quarter.

Transcripts

  • Forward your final transcripts. New freshmen are required to submit final high school transcripts, as well as transcripts from any colleges or universities attended prior to Drexel. High school transcripts must be received from your high school guidance office. Please mail to: Drexel University, Undergraduate Admissions, 3141 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104-2876. Final transcripts are due two weeks prior to the beginning of the term.

University Housing

  • Complete the housing and dining application. This application and your $200 housing deposit must be submitted by June 15. However, housing is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to apply early. After you receive your housing assignment, please confirm your move-in date with the University Housing Office.
