Veterans Educational Benefits
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs offers educational benefits to veterans, service personnel, and dependents under the GI Bill. All qualified recipients must apply for educational benefits by filing the proper forms with the Office of the University Registrar and their regional Veterans Affairs office.
Veteran Certification
VA students who need certification for their G.I. Bill benefits will need to complete the following form:

New students must first contact the VA Certifying Official on their respective campus to receive the request form and additional information. Continuing students can retrieve the form here. All forms should be filed at the start of each academic year or the term(s) student wishes to initiate the VA benefits process.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs distributes the following form, along with instructions on how to complete each form:
For First-Time Recipients
- 22-1990 – Application for Education benefits form
- 22-5490 – Application for Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance form
For Transfer Students
- 22-1995 – Request for Change of Program or Place of Training form
- 22-5495 – Request for Change of Program or Place of Training for Survivor and Dependents form
Other Forms
- 22-1990t – Application and Enrollment Certification for Individualized Tutorial Assistance form
- 22-1900 – Disabled Veterans Application for Vocational Rehabilitation form
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs also issues the following guidelines for student enrollment status:
Undergraduate Students
12 or more credits: Full-time
9–11.5 credits: 3/4 Time
6–8.5 credits: 1/2 Time
3–5.5 credits: Less than 1/2 Time
0–2.5 credits: 1/4 Time
Graduate Students
9 or more credits: Full-time
6–8.5 credits: 3/4 Time
3–5.5 credits: 1/2 Time
1–2.5 credits: Less than 1/2 Time
0–2.5 credits: 1/4 Time
