Undergraduate Programs

Make a Difference in Tomorrow's World

The School of Education’s undergraduate programs are designed for individuals who are interested in becoming certified teachers at the pre-school, elementary, middle and secondary levels.

Drexel University's Education program is unique in that it is the only one in the nation that includes a co-op experience directly related to your major area of certification. In addition to the 12-week student teaching experience required for certification, School of Education students participate in diverse field experiences to prepare them for a career in teaching.

Program Options

The School of Education offers several options for first-time college students, current Drexel students, transfer students and career-changers who wish to pursue a career in education:

  • Full-time  B.S./M.S. accelerated degree program,

  • Full-time Teacher Certification Only program for students not majoring in Education but wish to build in requirements to be recommended for a teaching certificate upon graduation, and a
  • Part-time B.S. in Education  degree program whereby most courses are held in the evening on campus and supplemented with school-based field experiences.

Two additional options are available for those students interested in pre-kindergarten through
grade 4 as their primary teacher certification area:

  • A part-time "blended" (online course work with school-based field experiences) B.S. in Education degree-completion program—offered through Drexel University Online  —conducted primarily online with the exception of the school-based field experiences and a full-time student teaching requirement.

A Minor in Education

For students who wish to explore the field of education but who do not wish to pursue teacher certification, the School of Education offers a Minor in Education.  Any non-education major may pursue course work for a Minor in Education with the permission of the School of Education and the student's program advisor.
