Will credits transfer from my Drexel program to my home university?
Because this transcript is from an accredited U.S. university, most U.S. colleges and universities will treat your study abroad courses as transfer credit, allowing you to apply your study abroad experience to your degree program. You will need to speak with the Dean or Department Chair of your program.
Can I use financial aid to study abroad?
Yes. This aid is applied toward your program fee. Many participants use Guaranteed Student Loans (GSL/Stafford), Pell Grants, and Parent/PLUS Loans to help pay for their period of study abroad. Remember that your home institution makes the final decision with regard to your aid package, and transfer policies vary from university to university. In most cases, state loans and grants and university-specific scholarships are not transferable.
Does Drexel University offer scholarships?
Not at this time. However, for more about scholarship programs, visit our scholarships section.
Does Drexel University organize my travel?
You are responsible for making your international travel plans.
International travel is not included in your program fee. You must arrange your own flight. Keep in mind that you must book a round-trip ticket.
We recommend that you contact Advantage Travel at 800-788-1980 for assistance with your independent travel arrangements.
You must schedule a return flight for the program end date. See the program calendar for dates. You might want to look for a fare with a low change fee to minimize the cost of changing your return flight.
Do I have to have a passport and visa to study abroad?
You must have a passport to travel abroad. No visas are required to participate in this program.
If you already have a passport, make sure it's valid for at least six months past the time you plan to return from Peru.
If you don't have a passport, apply for one now! For complete information about applying for a passport, go to the State Department's Web site at www.travel.state.gov, then click on "Passports."
If you are not a U.S. citizen, make sure both your green card and passport are current and valid. You might need to check with the local Citizenship and Immigration Service office near your university or home. To apply for a non-U.S. passport, contact your embassy in Washington, D.C., and allow several weeks for processing.
Can I participate in your programs if I attend a two-year college?
Yes. You must have permission to study abroad from both your current college and the institution where you plan to receive your bachelor’s degree.
Can I study on your program if I’ve already received my bachelor’s degree but want additional undergraduate credits?
