Teacher Certification in Secondary General Science


All requirements in RED must be met to obtain the Graduate Intern Certificate (GIC). Although not all of the undergraduate content courses are in red, it is assumed the GIC student has already completed most of the undergraduate coursework.

Required PA Clearances:                          
(Copies of all clearances required by your School
District/State must be submitted to School of Ed prior to attending EDUC 520)

    • Tuberculosis (TB)

Preliminary Information about the program:

Min. 20 hours of classroom observation required for EDUC 520

Student teaching/field experience is a 12 week full-time, unpaid experience

Completion of the above requirements allows for recommendation for PA Instructional I certification.


IV. MS Electives: To Complete the MS in the Science of Instruction Degree
The MS electives portion of your degree is your opportunity to explore your interests in areas outside of the required pedagogy courses for certification. You must complete a minimum of 22 graduate credits in MS electives. These are separated into 7 credits for concentration electives and 15 credits for professional electives.
